Job Description

Yellowbrick Data is a modern cloud Data Warehouse start-up headquartered in Silicon Valley. We are a flexible multi-cloud solution, winning customers with our incredible speed and controllable costs. Our technology is used by the world’s largest insurers, credit card companies, telcos and healthcare firms, all of whom depend on our products to make critical decisions quickly without compromising the security of their data. Yellowbrick is well- funded with $248m raised from top-tier venture firms.

Job Opportunity

We are looking for a technical member of our product management team member to help conceive, formulate and specify product features of our cloud data warehouse. To be a great fit for working here, you’ll have been through the full lifecycle of rolling out SaaS products. You have a strong passion for usability, and are a close friend of the sales team, being happy to dive into prospect and existing customer meetings and understand how your products are being deployed and used.

To be our candidate, you’ve got an engineering or product background, coming from the world of software development. Perhaps you’re well on your way to a career in Product Management, or you’ve been a successful development lead or architect and love the outbound, communication or feature definition aspects of the job. You’ll need to be a clear communicator with great business acumen, have a working knowledge of databases and SQL, an eye for details of usability and aesthetics and have a fast moving, “get stuff done” attitude. You like thinking differently and are comfortable with helping a company map and chart an uncharted product path and feature set that’s deliberately not quite the same as everyone else.

Responsibility:

  • Own key elements of Yellowbrick’s product portfolio, strategy, roadmap and backlog

  • Create user stories with well-defined requirements and acceptance criteria

  • Be the ‘voice of the customer’ for the engineering team, and a key focal point in day-to-day technical development, execution quality and performance

  • Drive product requirements to satisfy customer needs, market opportunity and company strategic objectives

  • Work closely with engineering, sales, marketing, customer support and documentation to make sure all needs of the organisation are addressed

  • Brief prospects, customers, analysts, 3rd party influencers and partners on the vision and strategy for Yellowbrick’s product offerings

Work Environment:

This position is a fully remote, or hybrid role (Mountain View, CA), and is based in USA. The successful candidate will:

  • Think and act like a customer

  • Work well in a fast-paced, iterative, start-up environment

  • Have experience with developing user stories, functional requirements, and specifications

  • Have exceptional ability to impact and influence business results where cross group collaboration is required

  • Be willing to travel 10 to 20% of the time to visit customers, partners, conferences etc

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in computer science or related technical field

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills

  • ‘Outside-in’ viewpoint, fully aware of the competitive set and industry trends, and how to reconcile with company strategy

  • Have product/program management experience in public cloud and software-as-a-service delivery

  • Have a good understanding of existing and emerging public cloud trends

  • Highly desirable:

    • Track record of taking a cloud product from conception and definition through to implementation, and launching it to market

    • Hands-on experience with cloud SQL databases and analytics

    • Hands-on experience building and delivering services or products built on one or more cloud platforms; AWS, Azure and GCP as a software engineer, architect, or technical product manager

    • Excellent understanding of the enterprise data warehousing, enterprise data management, and analytics market
