Job Description

Company Description

At Meridian, we’re on a mission to make energy cleaner and cheaper for Aotearoa New Zealand.

100% of the energy we generate comes from renewable sources - wind, water and sun - because we believe that’s the best way forward for our planet and our communities.

We serve over 380,000 customers and have big aspirations to deliver value to even more homes and businesses across Aotearoa through our two brands, Meridian and Powershop.

It’s a challenge we take seriously, which is why we’ve recently redesigned our Retail operating model, building a network of empowered teams equipped to understand customer needs and quickly turn ideas and concepts into products and experiences that customers love.

Mō te tūranga | What you’ll be doing

It’s an exciting time to join Meridian, as we drive a full evolution of our Retail business and look to transform the way we deliver our two epic brands, Meridian and Powershop.

As a Content Specialist in our Brand & Experience team, you’ll ideate, develop, and execute engaging content across various formats to boost our visibility, relevance and engagement, helping to grow and enhance our customer base. Here’s what you’ll be diving into:

  • Collaboration: Act as a “creative bridge” between squads, ensuring we execute consistently from a brand and commercial point of view.
  • Brand evolution: Support the creative evolution of our two epic brands, Meridian and Powershop, driving innovative and engaging ways to connect with different audiences.
  • Innovation: Bring new and emerging content approaches to life for customers and our business, learning by doing.
  • Optimisation: Enhance content for our different platforms and owned and paid channels

Working in a cross-functional squad, supporting either the Home of Business Value Stream, you’ll be willing to roll your sleeves up and support where needed. You’ll get the opportunity to hone your craft, upskill others and learn new skills.

Ngā pukenga kei a koe mō tenei tūranga | What you’ll bring

  • You’re a creative allrounder or a guru at a few (creating engaging copy, photography, video, design and editing).
  • Experience with different Content Management Systems, email marketing and creative tools, and a hunger to learn new approaches to platforms, channels and content
  • A good understanding of brand and performance content and examples of balancing the art and science of content creation
  • A team player who is comfortable collaborating and working cross-functionally to deliver results, but you can also work independently
  • A passion for exploring and experimenting with new ideas and approaches
  • For this role we’re keen to see your portfolio of work. Please attach a link for us to take a look.

He aha koe i hono mai ai ki a mātou? | Why join us?

At Meridian, we value all people. We embrace different ways of thinking, living and working, because we believe diversity benefits us all. It makes our capabilities even stronger. So, no matter who you are, you’ll find it a great place to work.

We value and live by three ‘How to Be’s’: ‘be gutsy’, working together by ‘being in the waka’ and doing the right thing by ‘being a good human’. We work hard and value the importance of connection and fun, whether this be through daily quizzes, morning teas, birthday and cultural celebrations both in person and virtually!

Sustainability sits firmly in our DNA both socially and environmentally.
