Summary
About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate of Clinical Support, Nutrition Care at Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) with the Defense Health Agency, Indo-Pacific Market, Hawaii Region.
The incumbent of this position serves as Supervisor in the Food Production and Service Branch exercising full supervisory responsibility for 20-25 workers engaged in food and pastry preparation, meat processing, patient tray service and sanitation service.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Oversee cooking services of the cooking team.
- One-year supervisory probationary period required.
- This position requires successful completion of pre-placement and annual medical examinations.
- This position requires rotating shift work, to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
- This position requires rotating shifts every few days according to mission: 4:30 am - 1:00 pm; 11:00 am - 7:00 pm.
- This position may require overtime work.
- All employees assigned to a Medical Treatment Facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations regardless of series, based on occupational risk.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". The incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission during severe weather and emergency conditions.
Qualifications
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Cook Supervisor ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to Lead or Supervise - assigning work and explaining work requirements, methods and procedures. In addition, I have the ability to receive and issue food and supplies for the preparation and service of meals. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

- Physical Effort: Work involves light to heavy physical effort, such as frequent lifting of items weighing mostly 15 pounds. Work involves constant walking, standing, and frequent stooping and bending.
- Working Conditions: Work areas are often uncomfortably warm and noisy, e.g., noisy kitchen and dishwashing areas. Worker is exposed to the danger of minor cuts, bruises and burns from equipment. There is danger of slipping on floor which are wet from daily mopping or where food or beverages have been spilled. Work is performed on non-resilient tile flooring. Worker is exposed to extreme temperature changes in moving from hot kitchen areas to walk in cold storage areas.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
