Summary
About the Position: The Operations Division provides Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the Corps' Civil Works projects. It oversees projects and programs related to water navigation, flood damage reduction, geospatial data, recreation, environmental stewardship and coastal management. The division provides guidance for developing designs, plans, and specifications for mechanical systems in support of the District's operations and maintenance program.

Conditions of Employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires participation in the Department of Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program to include passing a urinalysis drug test prior to appointment and passing random urinalysis drug and alcohol testing after appointment.
- This position requires a physical examination prior to appointment.
- This position requires moderately heavy physical effort in lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50lbs as well as working in stretched and cramped positions.
- In this position you are subject to recall 24 hours a day, 7 days a week due to an emergency situation such as plane crashes, hurricanes etc.
- You may be expected to travel up to 10% for this position.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position requires alcohol testing per ER690-1-1218.
Qualifications
THIS IS AN OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 6 MONTHS (however, may extended longer) - THE INITIAL CUT-OFF DATE FOR REFERRAL CONSIDERATION IS 1MAY24; AFTERWARD, REFERRALS WILL BE PULLED AS VACANCIES OCCUR.
Minimum Qualifications: Ability to do the work of a DECKHAND (SHIPKEEPER) without more than normal supervision which includes: docking and undocking to support water craft movement, skilled in waterway missions, safe vessel operations, and maintaining the upkeep of the vessel
Required Selective Placement Factors: The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess: 1) a valid Merchant Marine Credential for Ordinary Seaman; AND 2) a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

Physical Effort: Moderately heavy physical effort is required in lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds; work in stretched and cramped positions.
Working Conditions: Works both inside and outside during a variety of weather conditions and climates, including extremes of heat and cold and heavy rainfall. There is a danger of slipping from a vessel into water with possibility of physical injury or drowning. On-shore work may involve working in mud, snow, or ice in dirty or cramped situations.
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
