As a Designer 2, you will have the opportunity to design product solutions that align with Arc’teryx design philosophies and that continuously exceed our guests’ evolving needs. In this role, you will be designing for our Veilance product category, with a specific focus on women’s product and perspective. You bring your curiosity and passion for product to imagine and build innovative, relevant and resolved designs for the city environment. You are an innovative problem solver with a focus on collaborative team work.
This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is expected to be performed on-site. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.Â

If you were in the Designer 2 role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
- Creating and executing assigned product designs alongside your senior leaders that are future oriented and user-centricÂ
- Helping to define the current and future global guest, their needs and expectations through building mood boards, and visualizing consumer journeys and market analysis.Â
- Contributing to the commercialization of innovative technologies, including materials, pattern, and construction techniques for existing and new product categoriesÂ
- Creating patterns, mock ups, and prototypes to explore, resolve, or prove new concepts or construction techniquesÂ
- Providing detailed product initiations to the Product Development team, including spec drawings, pattern and fit directions, and material informationÂ
- Collaborating with the Fit & Pattern team to resolve fit style and construction issues, and ensure a fully commercialized productÂ
- Coordinating with the Materials team to test new materials and ensure that necessary items are available for prototypingÂ
- Developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of the materials and manufacturing techniques that Arc’teryx works withÂ
- Collaborating closely with other Designers to bring new and better toolbox solutions that benefit the brand (such as new technologies, construction techniques, features, etc.)
- Staying up to date with industry trendsÂ
- Assisting with current product design changes where necessary, in order to address in-line production issuesÂ
- Supporting the Design Director/Senior Designers in developing a schedule for the flow of the line plan through all development stages, including charting line plan progressÂ
- Partnering with the Development and Merchandising teams on concepting and prototyping for seasonal products to gain visibility into cost estimates, MOQs and LOM concerns
- Presenting at internal meetings, design reviews and seasonal stage gates, annual seasonal handoffs and other product meetings as requiredÂ
- Attending tradeshows, company events as well as sourcing and development vendor visits as requiredÂ

- Contributing to the long-term strategic plan for Women’s apparel at Arc’teryxÂ
- Collaborating with various design activity leaders to identify new product opportunities and propose product solutionsÂ
- Working closely with our Development teams and innovation partnerships to challenge and evolve the way we bring innovative ideas to production
Are you our next Designer 2?
- You have a Degree in Design (Apparel or Industrial), or Textile EngineeringÂ
- You have 5+ years hands-on experience designing products, preferably textile based, with a specific focus on designing women’s productÂ
- You have the capability to create tools and construction methods to assist in solving construction issuesÂ
- You have constant finger on the pulse of evolving city cultures and evolving markets, but seek a timeless solve over temporary trendsÂ
- You are a digital/technical expert, with experience using CLO3D, Adobe Illustrator and Gerber, or the equivalent pattern softwareÂ
- You are an excellent team player with the ability to take direction and work independentlyÂ
- You have technical and creative skills to pattern and prototypeÂ
- You are entrepreneurial and innovativeÂ
- You have strong planning, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skillsÂ
- You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is rightÂ
- You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguityÂ
- You are able to balance autonomy and collaborationÂ
- You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvementÂ
