Summary:
Join our global talent management team as a Director, People Business Partner, and you will support our New York office and be the trusted advisor aligning business objectives with people solutions within the assigned client groups. This role reports to the Sr. Director of Talent Management, and works closely with all teams across Magnite.
The Director, People Business Partner will be a lead point of contact and this position calls upon knowledge of HR best practices and knowledge of the business to accomplish goals and objectives, and sustain an engaged workforce. This position is responsible for ensuring that People management strategies align with company objectives, strategies, initiatives and culture, and provides proactive consultation.
The People Business Partner (PBP) is an administrative expert, people champion, change agent, and strategic partner to the assigned client groups. The PBP partners with and coaches leaders and employees and works closely with leadership focusing on organizational health, retention, talent development, performance management, employee relations, workforce planning, change management, and driving cultural excellence. The PBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, and its competition. A successful Director, PBP (HR Business Partner, Talent Management) be able to provide consultation in the key disciplines of People management and partner across the HR function to deliver a high level of value-added service, and act as a champion for positive change.
In this role you will:
- Act as an extension of the client group management team and actively support discussions that empower leaders to handle matters related to conflict resolution, compensation, company policy interpretation, retention, management principles, and administration including redundancies, resignations, disciplinary action, performance, leaves of absence, and other policy alignment.
- Establish genuine relationships with client groups to ensure that you are in tune with the drivers and sentiment within each department. Maintain involvement in the client group's day to day operations continuously monitoring the landscape to identify potential improvement opportunities, or problem areas and addressing them accordingly.
- Serve as a leading representative of the HR function in the New York office, building relationships and collaborating across talent acquisition, facilities, learning and development, DE&I, and the senior leadership team.
- Coach and counsel leaders and individual contributors to ensure they understand how to thrive in our environment, make decisions in line with our culture and assist them in their personal and professional development.
- Conduct strategic workforce planning to ensure the company's workforce has the right size, leveling, cost, agility, and succession plans to meet the company's goals and objectives.
- Partner with business leaders in people development and talent planning decisions to select and develop key talent to ensure employees are ready to fill critical roles.
- Provide People policy guidance and interpretation. Advise managers on local employment laws, legal requirements related to day to day management of employees, and knowledge sharing best practices with them
- Provide performance management guidance to managers, including mentoring, career planning, coaching, etc.
- Consistently evaluate and make recommendations to enhance/improve our People processes and procedures to ensure they are aligned with our culture and strategic plan.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.
- Manage headcount budgets, contractor audits, and other employment-related administrative details.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
We're looking for someone with:
- Minimum of 7 years working as a People Business Partner (Talent Management or HR Business Partner) with a strong HR Generalist background, preferably in the technology space.
- Proven track record of building strong relationships with senior leadership, large teams (100+), and especially senior leaders.
- Strong senior-level influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working on change and transformation projects as a true business partner.
- Ability to coach and where necessary carry out training sessions with line managers.
- Experience instituting impactful people programs that increase and sustain a high level of employee engagement.
- Strong business acumen.
- Detail-oriented, data-driven, and analytical, familiarity with Workday is a plus.
- Familiarity with employment law and working directly with finance and legal partners.
- Project management and change management skills with an ability to handle and organize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
- Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Must demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, attention to detail, and quality management.
- Ability to work through ambiguous and unique situations and operate effectively through change when situations are complex or when information is contradictory.
