Join Collins Aerospace as an ECAD, Drafting & Product Definition Manager. In this role you will be expected to manage a team of all levels of professionals supporting Engineering, establish objectives and guidelines for processes, product specifications and other areas of Drafting & Product Definition

In this role, you will also play a crucial part in the development of electronic systems and components for aircraft. You will be working closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to collaborate on designing, simulating, and validating printed circuit boards (PCBs) that meet the highest industry standards for aerospace applications.

This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.

What YOU will do:

• Provide technical leadership and assist in training less experienced electrical drafters to help them diagnose and solve problems and to build capabilities.
• Support and evaluate employees on the design and layout of complex PCBs for aerospace applications, considering factors such as size, weight, power, and thermal constraints.
• Lead the way on skills development for schematic design, component selection, simulation and analysis, prototyping and testing and regulatory compliance of the drafting team.
• Ensure efficiency of drafting team on the usage of methods and tools (Mentor Xpedition, Allegro, Altium Designer, Siemens EDA, Teamcenter, NX)
• Lead the discipline strategy for skills development providing results on team capability growth.
• Work with engineering and drafting managers to ensure product quality, process alignment and implementation of streamlined processes.
• Use highly developed technical knowledge and project management skills for project planning budget management, and methodology development to ensure that projects are completed on-time, within budget and according to defined goals.
• Coordinate the preparation of business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets, and the financial terms and conditions of contracts to ensure that progress and performance can be tracked.
• Direct recruitment, placement, and evaluation of drafter's staff and their work products to ensure the effective deployment of talent.
• Oversee the functional management of direct reports including but not limited to career development and succession planning to meet the organization's needs
• Work with various business units on staff and project allocation dynamically.
• Manage a team of Electrical and Mechanical Drafters.

Qualifications you must have:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 6 years of relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
• Experience in managing programs/projects within a highly matrixed organization including successfully managing a group of engineers/drafters under technical guidance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• BS and/or MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Degree on Technical Drafting with experience in the Aerospace Industry
• Experience in creating career development programs to ensure skills and performance of employees meet the organization's current and future needs.
• Previous experience working in the aerospace industry with working knowledge of industry standards.
• 5+ years of design experience in the engineering field, in a product definition group.
• Experience with electronics components, PCB Layout and electrical systems.
• 5+ years of experience in 3D modeling with CAD tools including NX (formally Unigraphics) and PLM Teamcenter.
