Job Description Summary
The Engineering Manager will be responsible for the planning, implementation, coordination and supervision of all facility related technical operations of a health care facilities portfolio in compliance with policies and procedures. This includes the development and implementation of site and account specific procedures in coordination with our company's best practices, individual manufacturer's recommendations, industry standards, and regulatory compliance. Emphasis is to be placed on the efficiency of our technicians to timely provide services to our client.
Job Description
  • Oversee all engineering functions associated with the support of critical business operations.
  • Coordinate all monitoring, routine inspection, maintenance & repair, specialized maintenance and performance testing.
  • Manage the performance of mobile in-house maintenance technicians.
  • Manage the performance of any sub-contractors in coordination with the market facility managers. Including but not limited to obtaining quotes, coordination of schedule, etc.
  • Manage the administrative tools utilized to schedule activities, measure performance and document the facility status.
  • Coordinate all activities in compliance with stated goals, objectives and service levels.
  • Liaison with Account Engineering Manager, Compliance Manager and other market facility managers and chief engineers to drive account best practice.
  • Contributes to an accident-free work environment by enforcing proper use of power tools, equipment, PPE, on-the-spot corrections of unsafe work activities, conduct safety investigations, reporting incidents to Management, and enforces standard safety precautions during work.
  • Assist or leads weekly safety inspections and safety talks.
  • Conducts quality assurance checks
  • Troubleshoot/problem solve work in varied trades
  • Maintains effective ongoing customer relations through email, phones and face-to-face interaction
  • Conducts site evaluations and audits
  • Participates in ongoing management/technical skill development training programs
  • Ensure that all work performed under his/her supervision is done in a timely and cost effective manner according to the applicable codes.
  • Provide leadership and supervision of engineering and maintenance staff, including hiring, training, and personnel development
  • Conduct and assist with inspections and surveys, including energy audits and analysis, HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems, environmental and ADA compliance

Education
  • Degree from an accredited college or university in engineering preferred or equivalent years of experience.

Years in Industry
  • Two (2) years small construction projects experience preferred, covering project initiation, construction, and closeout. Successful track record managing scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Minimum 5 years-experience supervision of service technicians with mobile operation preferred.


Special Proficiency
  • Knowledge and experience in the operation of HVAC systems including VAV air handling systems and the associated controls.
  • Knowledge and experience in the operations and maintenance of Building Management Systems (BMS) or Building Automations Systems (BAS).
  • Preferred knowledge and experience in the operations and periodic testing of Emergency Power Source systems (EPS) including diesel generators, fuel transfer and storage systems.
  • Preferred knowledge and experience in the operations of Uninterruptible Power Source systems (UPS), battery systems and electrical distribution.
  • Knowledge and experience in the operations and testing of Fire / Life Safety systems including fire alarm & fire suppression systems, sprinkler and standpipe.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with general building maintenance including electrical, plumbing, keys and hardware, patching and painting.

Administrative Skills
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple engineering activities and direct personnel in the implementation of programs.
  • Must possess above average analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to read, interpret, and develop schedules, cost analysis, statistical reports and calculations as required.
  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills, and be able to generate reports, correspondence and facilitate meetings & presentations.
  • Must be familiar and proficient with personal computers and PC based software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Must have experience within a computer maintenance management software (CMMS).
  • Must be able to present a professional appearance in the performance of their duties.
  • Must be able to converse in a businesslike manner with occupants and management.
