The Enterprise Product Strategy & Planning Director identifies new opportunities and develops long-term strategic plans for products and capabilities through understanding common client needs and how Cox Automotive can be uniquely positioned to drive value. This role will focus on the OEM client segment to create comprehensive enterprise solutions, working closely with product and engineering, enterprise architecture and a core OEM-focused team from sales, marketing and operations. Initiatives driven by this cross-functional group will ensure tight linkage, defined approaches and execution on the strategy to deepen relationships with the OEM client segment. Initiatives will encompass multiple products, capabilities and delivery streams. Enterprise level product strategies will:
  • Align key stakeholders and partners to a shared end state and outcomes
  • Provide the supporting fact base for top priorities and connection to business strategies
  • Drive team members to a clear purpose and empower decision making
  • Inform an enterprise product roadmap

This role requires experience working for an OEM, strong critical thinking and influencing skills, the ability to begin with ambiguous concepts and evaluate feasibility, leading key stakeholders to solid concepts and options for growth investments as well as eliminating opportunities that do not prove out, do not align to identified strategic focus areas and/or fail to promote long term growth goal achievement and outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for ongoing comprehensive assessment of OEM client segment, gaps and opportunities
  • Responsible for development and execution of product strategies in support of goals established
  • Responsible for maturing high impact product ideas/strategies to include market problems, competition, capability assessments, market segmentation, pricing guidance and go to market strategies
  • Responsible for helping develop relationships with third party partners that are relevant to furthering the long-term vision
  • Drive the development of business cases including accurate assessment of requirements definition (across delivery streams), product design, revenue forecasting, expense estimation and commitment to deliver on enterprise enablers and dependencies.
  • Facilitate client journey driven outcomes that leverage capabilities and assets from any of the strategic focus areas for accelerating innovation and generating impactful growth.
  • Partners closely with key stakeholders to develop and deliver on a roadmap geared to OEMs, ensures initiatives apply data driven market research and understanding of client needs to determine product fit, opportunity sizing and evaluation of multi-year business value.

Required Experience & Specialized Knowledge and skills
  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience working for an OEM
  • Comprehensive understanding of product development lifecycle, Pragmatic Institute framework or similar
  • Experience leveraging journey mapping and human centered design practices preferred
  • Experience in developing, communicating and executing on product strategies; must be able to clearly articulate an understanding of the issues and be able to present solutions
  • Program leadership experience, working on high impact, enterprise level programs that require multiple disciplines; must have the ability to work collaboratively across multiple business lines and matrixed organizations to help drive results
  • Mix of product, technology (engineering, product development) and business (consulting, product marketing, sales, and channel) background is required
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate clearly and succinctly, both verbally and written
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, analyze complex problems and suggest appropriate solutions, exhibiting good decision quality and strategic mindset
  • Excellent organizational skills, business insight, and financial acumen
  • Proven ability to develop, plan, and implement short and long-range strategies and goals, driving appropriate results
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
