Job Description

Automattic the company behind WordPress.com Jetpack Tumblr and WooCommerce is looking for exceptional generalist engineers.

If you love the open web open source radical problem ownership and simple solutions Automattic is probably the place for you.

About you:
  • You’re endlessly curious about how things work – infrastructure language and libraries product and business.
  • Understanding the problem we're solving and how it helps the user is your first priority.
  • Simple solutions are your favorite even if they’re boring . For example using PHP as the core of our backend makes sense to you.
  • You love debugging a stubborn issue. Friends and colleagues call you when they hit a wall.
  • You describe your growth as an engineer in terms of what you've learned instead of what positions you've held.
  • You work across the stack whether you've been tasked with it or not. A new corner of the (even legacy) codebase is a fun challenge not something to avoid.
