RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice to our executive leadership team on all legal matters, including corporate governance, transactions, regulatory compliance, risk management, strategic initiatives, family office estate planning, and foundation-related concerns
  • Negotiate, draft, and review intricate legal agreements and contracts related to various business transactions, such as licensing, partnerships, acquisitions, strategic alliances, estate planning, and foundation management
  • Oversee and manage all intellectual property matters, advise on potential IP risks, and provide guidance on legal aspects of family office estate planning and foundation management
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other international data privacy laws, along with laws and regulations pertaining to estate planning and foundation management
  • Lead the legal team in supporting business operations, provide training to the company on legal topics and compliance, and offer specialized advice in areas of family office planning and foundation management
  • Participate in the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures, and programs, and provide continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters and implications of all matters

REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years' experience as a practicing attorney, with 5+ years in a leadership role within a corporate environment
  • Deep understanding of e-commerce business models
  • Experience and understanding of family office structures, estate planning, and foundation management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of corporate law, data privacy law, intellectual property, international regulatory compliance, and experience in the tech industry
  • Proven experience in negotiating and drafting complex legal agreements and contracts
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders and influence at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead, manage, and mentor a team of legal professionals
  • Experience working with global teams and international stakeholders, with a strong understanding of international law and regulations
  • Ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks, organize and prioritize work, and meet deadlines
  • High degree of professional ethics, integrity, and gravitas
  • A plus if:
  • Prior experience in the video game, payments, or e-commerce industry
  • Previous work experience at an organization with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Experience with M&A transactions, due diligence, and legal aspects of family office operations
  • Familiarity with data privacy, cybersecurity laws, and laws related to foundation management and estate planning
  • Experience in managing outside counsel and legal budget
  • Proven track record in implementing legal frameworks for family office estate planning, foundation management, and other philanthropic activities
