The Role:
The Investment Management group is seeking a proven leader to serve as the Head of Portfolio Specialists. This dynamic individual will lead a team of Portfolio Specialists in supporting our advisory clients, home offices, and centers of influence by educating and promoting Morningstar Managed Portfolios product offerings across the wealth advisory landscape. This leader will also act as a senior liaison when representing our Investment Team for significant speaking engagements and industry events. This leadership role will collaborate heavily with the Investment, Product, Sales, and Marketing teams to refine the messaging and positioning of Morningstar's investment management capabilities and provide critical input on new product and service ideas based upon client and prospect feedback. The Head of Portfolio Specialists will report to the Managing Director, Americas for Morningstar Investment Management.
Responsibilities:
- Create, demonstrate, and promote a standard of excellence across client facing teams when delivering Morningstar's Investment Management capabilities and offerings
- Develop and lead a team of client facing Portfolio Specialists to equip and educate, both internally and externally, resulting in greater impact, improved advisory experience, and revenue growth
- Set a standard of excellence and participate in training team members on the utilization of comparative analytics and competitive positioning to drive awareness, consideration, and revenue
- Collaborate with Investment and Marketing Teams to deliver timely, relevant, and scaled communications to Sales and other key stakeholders
- Contribute to the continuous refinement of our go to market strategy to better reflect the needs of our advisors, investors, and prospects
- Work closely with Marketing, Investment, Product, and Design teams to create compelling presentations and collateral, highlighting the merits of Morningstar's Managed Portfolio offerings, to be delivered by all client facing teams for greater impact and revenue growth
- Present at due diligence meetings, industry conferences, internal and external training sessions, and various other client engagements
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree and/or a CFA, CAIA, or CFP designation is highly preferred
- Mastery of understanding of the wealth management, investment, and managed portfolio landscapes
- Exemplary investment acumen and demonstrated ability to deliver complicated investment ideas and concepts to audiences of all levels of sophistication
- Outstanding presentation, written, and communication skills applicable to all environments and audience sizes
- Demonstrated expertise and ability to synthesize economic, capital markets, and behavioral finance content and concepts, including their implementation and application in financial planning and portfolio construction
- Passionate about collaborating closely with team members to deliver excellence, impact, and empower investor success
- Maniacal attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability and willingness to travel (up to 50%)
- Experience with Morningstar Direct and Morningstar Office is a plus
- 10+ years of industry experience preferred
