Job Purpose:

This position is located at BorgWarner's World Headquarters in Auburn Hills, MI.

This position works within the global business strategy and as a leader of the Global Enterprise Engineering Systems Management team to manage the planning and building of IT Services for the global engineering function (Product Development and Manufacturing Engineering) within BorgWarner.

The IT Director, IT Engineering Systems Development is responsible for defining new and revamping existing enterprise engineering solutions, based on company and/or business unit requirements and demand, by leveraging industry best practices, tools, processes, and emerging trends. This position will also be responsible for the management of the multi-tiered IT Engineering team, vendor and partner relationship management, management of the engineering systems IT eco-system through the Plan and Build development stage.

The position will be responsible for defining, developing, and overseeing the organization's budget (capital and operational expenses) at monthly, quarterly, and yearly intervals. They will lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with key business stakeholders. Furthermore, the Lead will be responsible for approving spending requests to ensure accuracy and legitimacy of expenses and invoices. Additionally, they will closely monitor and analyze performance in relation to budgets (over $30M+ annually) and be capable of justifying expenditures to both IT Leadership and the Business.

The IT Director, IT Engineering Systems Development will maintain a focus on best-in-class IT systems, cyber resilience, concentration on vendor and partner commercial contracts and opportunities, as well as define, implement, and maintain a plan for both organic and MD&A growth of the business.

This role, as a part of the management team for Global Enterprise Engineering Systems, will actively engage in general IT projects, cross-functional tasks, and assignments. Additionally, it involves mentoring and training Global IT Engineering staff while carrying out various IT related activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the architecture and development of Enterprise Engineering Systems Solutions, which includes the following components for mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and software engineering;
• Engineering Systems Process Definition, Harmonization and Sustainability
• Innovation / New Engineering IT Tools introduction to Business Unit Leadership
• Develop and maintain key stakeholder business relationships, including;
• Business Unit Engineering management teams
• Engineering solutions and process harmonization (cross-BU)
• Engineering Processes
• Leadership of IT Engineering Plan and Build team:
• Manage staff of 10+ employees in a multi-level IT employee global organization
• Multiple (20+) external service partners
• Manage relationship with 80+ vendor and partner companies
• Facilitate Integration with Business Unit engineering teams
• Global Engineering Systems Financial Management
• Responsible for Plan and Build team annual expense budget management
• Accountability for monthly spend and budget forecasting
• Management of Capital Expenditures (Corporate and BU projects)
• Evaluate and define cyber security and Intellectual Property solutions within IT Engineering System
• Participate in and foster opportunities to provide consistency and simplify systems and processes within the existing IT Engineering ecosystem and downstream functions.
• Determine best solutions between in-house built technology systems versus purchased systems versus cloud-based solutions, while understanding and including budgetary constraints in the recommended solution
• Focus on growth, coaching, and mentoring of IT staff within reporting structure
• Interact and work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization, as well as external partners and vendors.
• Interact with others in a tactful and professional manner, demonstrating composure under pressure, and consistently treating everyone with respect and consideration

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degre
• 10 years related work experience
• 5+ years' experience managing multi-level organization
• Experience with managing enterprise IT systems development
• Robust experience with vendor/partner relationship management
• ITIL Framework understanding
• Demonstrated knowledge of defining and managing large scale IT budgets
• Commercial contract negotiations and management experience
• Lead efforts with internal staff, vendors/consultants for large scale enterprise projects
• Strong experience scoping/designing/configuring/implementing and supporting Enterprise-scale systems and Processes
• Communicates initiatives and project scope and status at senior IT management level
• Communicates and collaborates with business and IT leaders to define and implement agreed strategies within the BorgWarner LAGS operating model
