  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A criminal history background check is required.
  • Operates a 3/4 ton utility truck requiring ability to obtain and maintain a valid state and government driver's license.
  • Must obtain and maintain appropriate certification for handling of refrigerants.
  • Subject to emergency call - 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position is designated as a Primary Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) and the work requires frequent, direct contact in the detention of inmates convicted of offenses against the punitive articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
  • Regularly-assigned contacts with inmates expose the incumbent to daily stress and the threat of potentially dangerous situations such as verbal and/or physical attack by the inmate population.
  • The maximum entry age for positions covered under the special Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) retirement is 37 years old.
  • Individuals must be appointed by the last day of the month in which the individual becomes age 37. Individuals who are past the maximum entry age limit, but previously served in a primary position, may be reinstated.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • The incumbent of this position will comply with all provisions of the 15th MP BDE Regulation 190-3, Rules of Conduct and ACC Policy Letter #17, Standards of Conduct.
  • This position requires the employee to complete the Army Corrections Command Pre-Service Training program to maintain security and control of inmates, appropriate staff/inmate interaction and understanding the rules of inmate conduct.
  • Personnel who enter the Military Corrections Complex (within or outside the fence line) consent to inspection of their person and property, including their vehicle.
  • All confinement facility personnel shall have no civilian felony convictions or court-martial convictions for any offense with a maximum authorized sentence to confinement of over one year.
  • Section 639 of Public Law 106-554 requires agencies to remove law enforcement officers from employment as law enforcement officers if they are convicted of a felony.
  • Must undergo screening for tuberculosis in conjunction with their annual medical evaluation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Kitchen and Laundry Equipment Repairer without more than normal supervision. Trouble shoot, repair, overhaul and maintain kitchen and laundry equipment such as ovens, toasters, steam tables, garbage disposals, water heaters, refrigerators, and commercial washers and dryers. Read and follow repair manuals and schematics to accomplish work - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

This position has been designated as a primary/rigorous and is eligible for Law Enforcement (LEO) retirement coverage under the provisions of title 5 USC 8336(c) and 8412(d) by DoD memorandum dated April 27, 2011. The maximum entry age for positions covered under this retirement is 37 years old. Retirement from this position is mandatory at age 57 with 20 years of LEO service. The maximum entry age may be waived under certain circumstances. Individuals who are past the maximum entry age limit, but previously served in a primary position, MAY be reinstated.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Frequently works in cramped, awkward, uncomfortable, enclosed areas and tiring positions. Work may require extended period of standing, stooping, kneeling and bending. Frequently lifts, carries and sets up equipment and parts that weigh up to 75 pounds. Occasionally lifts heavier items with assistance or use of a dolly.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Inmate contacts expose the incumbent to daily stress and the threat of potentially dangerous situations such as physical attack or riots by the inmate population. Work is primarily performed indoors while on concrete floors; occasional exposure to bad weather while loading or unloading trucks. Is exposed to gas fumes dirt, grease, hot water, and high temperature steam. Is frequently subject to sudden temperature changes when working on walk-in freezer units. Exposure to repeated, prolonged or concentrated amounts of refrigerant gases may cause toxic effects to eyes, skin and internal organs. Is exposed to possibility of cuts, burns, abrasions, electrical shock, strained back and respiratory ailments. Work is occasionally performed under other than normal temperatures.
