Job Description

Hinge is the dating app designed to be deleted

In today’s digital world, singles are so focused on sending likes and looking through profiles that they’re not actually building meaningful connections and finding relationships. Hinge is on a mission to change that by designing the most effective app experience. On Hinge, there are no rules, timers, or games. Instead, you’ll have unique conversations over the text, photos, and audio you’ve shared on your profile. And it’s resonating with daters. Currently we’re setting up a date every three seconds.

About the Role

Hinge is seeking a Lead Product Designer, Accessibility to ensure our app is fully inclusive and accessible to all users. You’ll play a key role in embedding accessibility into the foundation of our design practices, ensuring every feature is accessible-by-design while addressing existing gaps. Partnering closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll guide efforts to create a seamless, intuitive experience for users with diverse needs. This role directly aligns with our mission of fostering real-life connections and helping users “delete us.”

This is a 6-month contract with the potential to renew

Responsibilities

  • Design and advise on interactions between new features and assistive technologies, such as screen readers and voice controls.
  • Collaborate with engineers to resolve accessibility bugs, ensuring efficient fixes and unblocking progress.
  • Build and maintain evergreen documentation and processes to make accessibility practices scalable.
  • Lead mentorship and training programs to upskill designers on accessibility standards.
  • Conduct a thorough audit of Hinge’s design system component library, ensuring compliance with WCAG standards.
  • Support teams as they prioritize accessibility in the product development lifecycle
  • Support co-design efforts to better address the unique challenges faced by daters with disabilities.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of product design experience, including 2–3 years in mobile design.
  • Proficiency in Figma, with experience in high-fidelity prototyping and component libraries.
  • 2+ years in an accessibility-focused role.
  • Strong knowledge of WCAG guidelines, assistive technologies (e.g., VoiceOver, TalkBack), and accessibility standards for native mobile platforms.
  • Experience leading training programs or workshops on accessibility best practices.
  • Experience collaborating with engineers to build mobile features that interact with assistive technologies.
  • Hands-on experience auditing and working with design systems for accessibility.
  • Serve as the team’s subject matter expert in accessibility, bringing deep expertise to ensure we meet the highest standards and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accessibility certifications such as CPACC or WAS.
  • Experience conducting usability testing with users with disabilities and applying insights to design decisions.
  • Familiarity with coding languages (HTML, CSS, ARIA) to facilitate accessibility discussions with developers.

Our Culture:

- Authenticity: Share your genuine thoughts and opinions directly.

- Courage: Invite and deeply consider challenges and criticism.

- Empathy: Be empathetic, communitarian and trustworthy.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

If you require reasonable accommodation to complete a job application, pre-employment testing, or a job interview or to otherwise participate in the hiring process, please speak to your Talent Acquisition Partner directly.
