We are looking for a Cloud Engineering Manager to join our Technology team. As the Cloud Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end health of infrastructure and the platform that powers Bridgeway. You will be focused on bringing a vision that will enable our engineers to deliver software with industry standard practices and technology. This role requires one to have strong communication skills and champion a DevOps culture, leveraging your experience of working in modernized software teams. You will be responsible for designing a roadmap for reliability, automation, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps, with the goal of bringing operational excellence to our software development and delivery. As Cloud Engineering Manager, you will have 11 Windows and Linux focused direct reports, requiring hands-on people management expertise. This is an exciting opportunity for you to lead the transformation of your teams to embrace automation and develop a fully self-healing platform.

This position can be remote or on-site/hybrid in our Baltimore, MD or Maple Shade, NJ offices. This role includes after hours/on-call availability.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build strategic roadmap for integrating all Bridgeway applications to utilize the CI/CD pipeline and DevOps tooling.
  • Provide enterprise architecture capability and expertise required to ensure investments, initiatives and projects can realize desired business benefits. Create the foundation for our software delivery pipelines.
  • People Management responsibility which includes hiring, setting and monitoring individual performance objectives, career development, performance appraisals, and providing regular feedback and coaching.
  • Build an engineering culture within the team focused on creating efficiencies through modernized processes and tools.
  • Effectively communicate IT strategy and vision with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture in alignment with the overall IT vision, supporting the information needs of the business and/or may manage and perform research and discovery activities, vet ideas, explore and validate emerging technologies, trends and possibilities relevant to strategic and technical direction, while supporting business innovation and being a change agent.
  • Partners with business and technology subject-matter experts to elicit and translate business requirements into technological solutions.
  • Oversee DevOps policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure that a consistent framework is applied across the company.
  • Champion appropriate Site Reliability best practices throughout the Technology organization.
  • Interface with the software development organization to understand pain points and have teams drive towards resolution in the vein of continuously improving software practices.
  • Build a development enablement platform to streamline development delivery.
  • Drive the transformation of your team to be automation focused first and embrace technologies like Python, Terraform, and Ansible.


Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience managing and developing a customer-facing cloud infrastructure team, includes full human capital responsibility and experienced in change management
  • 5+ years of experience working in Azure or AWS cloud arch, Azure strongly preferred
  • Holds at least 1 advanced cloud certification from Azure (Architect or Expert) or AWS (Architect or Advanced) that is valid (or was valid through 2023)
  • Working knowledge of DevOps practices with proven ability to successfully lead DevOps transformation
  • Experience with structured DevOps Architecture practices and on premise-to-cloud migration deployments and roadmaps
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to consistently deliver clear concise communications internally and externally to both highly and non-technical people
  • Highly collaborative and influential in acceptance and support of solutions which align with strategic technology direction of the company
  • Passion for modernizing a platform from IaaS to more PaaS cloud native services
  • Hands on expertise with automation tools including, Terraform, Ansible, ADO Pipelines, etc. preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline
