MANAGER, PAYROLL
Location: Los Angeles, CA - Broomfield, CO, New Yor, NY
Hybrid Schedule (M/F remote, T/W/TH in-office)

We are looking for a Manager, Payroll that will develop policies and procedures for payroll processing and timekeeping. This role serves as a liaison to employees and third-party payroll vendors to ensure payroll is processed timely and accurately. Additionally, this role is responsible for auditing employee pay records and reconciles totals by department, location, company, etc. Magnite is looking for a tax super-star that verifies compliance with federal and state tax requirements, is committed to accurate government reporting and compliance and understands the importance of internal audits.
In this role you will:
  • Manage the full cycle semi-monthly payroll processing for Magnite US functions, which may include but not limited to new hires, terminations, bonuses, off-cycle payrolls, compensation changes, one-time payments, fringe benefits, garnishments, and expense reimbursements
  • Manage US payroll taxes including: new state agency set up/closing accounts, responding to notices or working with tax vendors to resolve issues, documenting and reviewing quarterly and year-end filings (941s, 940s, state tax rates, etc.)
  • Prepare various tax account analysis including certain local city tax reporting, reporting of tax expenses, accrue for any unpaid taxes
  • Review reporting requirements for payroll taxes, withholding and employer contributions; ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements
  • Perform ad-hoc and quarterly off-cycle payrolls for restricted stock vestings, stock option exercises, and ESPP programs
  • Review payroll accounting reports and ensure proper general ledger accounts are assigned and maintain payroll system to accounting journal entry configuration
  • Support Magnite's Accounting team with month/quarter-end reconciliations including the balancing of semi-monthly payroll general ledger interfaces, payroll cash bank accounts, running reports and preparing journal entries, various accruals and reconciliations
  • Ensure appropriate and timely contact with Accounting/Treasury for all unclaimed payroll checks; tax refunds/credits; manual payments related to tax notices, cash forecasting
  • Reconcile and upload 401(k) contributions to Magnite's 401(k) broker of record
  • Assist as back up payroll processor for Greece, Canada and Brazil entities
  • Evaluate system changes and ensure payroll accuracy while recommending and developing operating efficiency improvements through process automation
  • Special projects as requested (policies, People team support, M&A, etc.)

We're looking for someone with:
  • 6+ years of experience in a fast-paced business environment inclusive of 5+ years payroll experience in a multi-state environment, while working with multiple company codes
  • Workday HRIS is a plus
  • High level of proficiency in EXCEL
  • Knowledge of payroll tax and general accounting
  • Ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels of the organization and demonstrate a strong commitment to a team environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and meeting tight deadlines
  • Strategic, analytical thinker who consistently challenges the status quo and constructively challenges themselves
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential material

In California, the base salary range for this position is: $94,000 - $104,000 in addition to an annual variable bonus based on performance and company equity (NASDAQ: MGNI).
In Colorado, the base salary range for this position is: $87,000 - 97,000 in addition to an annual variable bonus based on performance and company equity (NASDAQ: MGNI).
In New York, the base salary range for this position is: $94,000 - $104,000 in addition to an annual variable bonus based on performance and company equity (NASDAQ: MGNI).
