Job Summary:

The Manager of Project Finance will report to the Director of Project Finance and will have responsibility for financial transactions, capital raises, and project level financial modeling. The job can be located in Salt Lake City, UT, Louisville, CO, San Diego, CA, and remote locations could be considered for the right candidate. The manager will lead either an analyst or associate on transactions and will have a direct report. The Manager will work with the team to develop and build complex financial models incorporating debt, tax equity, and permanent equity financing to evaluate project economics and financing structures. The manager will be expected to help form relationships with capital providers, originate a full range of financing products and negotiate term sheet and binding financing documentation with oversight from the Director of Project Finance and the Treasurer. It is expected that the manger is able to lead a team of attorneys, consultants, and AES employees to make informed decisions on economic deal points and drive the team to close in an efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate / lead day-to-day activities on transactions to hit closing timelines while managing an associate or analyst which will include reviewing work product for accuracy and developing them professionally.
  • Project Financial Modeling: The Financial Manager will have overall responsibility for managing project finance deal modeling working closely with the associate / analyst to ensure accuracy of inputs and outputs that will be distributed to third party capital providers.
  • Financial Structuring: Work with the director to develop debt, tax equity and project equity structures that allow the company to efficiently finance projects and optimize returns.
  • Project Finance Execution: Lead, with oversight from the director, negotiation and closing of project finance transactions with third party capital providers for construction debt, back leverage, tax equity, refinancing's, tax equity buyouts, equipment supply loans, and land sales which will include term sheet / documentation negotiation and diligence.
  • Project Funding's: The manager will lead the funding of projects into established financial facilities. The manager will lead and ensure accuracy of third-party diligence reports and the financial model. The manager will track and ensure that all conditions precedent can be met for the projects they are responsible for.
  • Business Development: Support the growth team in evaluating finance-able deals and in developing competitive bid pricing based on optimization of capital sources.


Skills and Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated financial competence and experience developing and building complex financial models using Microsoft Excel
  • 5+ Years' Experience in the Renewable Energy Industry or Banking
  • Experience navigating renewable projects through the financing process and documentation negotiation
  • Creative thought process with new products or financial structures to bring value
  • Undergraduate degree required, and post graduate degree or CFA is a plus
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills; ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve objectives
  • Ability to set and meet realistic deadlines in an unstructured environment
  • Willingness to travel approximately 15% of working days
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
