SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Performs senior level and diversified technical engineering work such as the design, manufacture and operation of medical device components, assemblies and systems while providing project management on respective OEM projects in broad areas of assignment. Gathers new and varied OEM product ideas as well as customer defined products and evaluates their potential and practicality. Coordinates the initial stages of product planning and development, including financial, engineering and manufacturing issues. Travels to customer locations throughout the world to work on customer projects as well as prospect for new customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED
- Performs senior level and diversified technical engineering work such as the design, manufacture and operation of medical device components, assemblies and systems while providing project management on respective OEM projects in broad areas of assignment.
- Works with OEM customers to increase the ability of Merit to understand and meet specific customer needs by:
- Identifying problems not met by existing products.
- Discussing possible changes in product specifications based upon the unique needs of individual customers.
- Works with OEM by:
- Identifying opportunities for adding accessories or improving product operation.
- Communicating customer specifications and product needs to Engineering and Manufacturing staff.
- Travels throughout the world to meet with customers, work on OEM projects and prospect for new business.
- Coordinates the initial stages of product planning and development, including financial, engineering and manufacturing issues.
- Provides project management and/or participates as a team leader. May also participate as member of OEM management in an interdepartmental team/project.
- Exercises judgment in project management for high priority projects and assignments.
- Serves as OEM liaison to other departments in the absence of the department Director.
- Performs other related project management tasks as needed.

SUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
- Work related experience equivalent to six years of product management, engineering, manufacturing, and/or appropriate sales experience.
- Experience in the medical device field preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple, large and high priority projects efficiently and effectively and to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to conduct and/or supervise the development process in an organized and methodical manner.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to act as a team leader while supervising OEM's efforts as related to high priority projects.
- Excellent presentation skills and the ability to prepare professional written and oral presentations and market analysis.
- Excellent market research skills and the ability to report research findings with high degrees of validity and reliability.
- Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs.
