Operations Manager, Uber Direct Japan

About the Role

Uber Direct is an innovative 'Delivery as a Service' product, empowering merchants to utilize Uber Eats' extensive delivery network for seamless last-mile services. This platform connects orders from merchant apps and websites with our delivery partners, offering a streamlined solution for businesses. Uber Direct stands poised to become a significant contributor to our portfolio, representing a vital service for our existing marketplace partners and new business.

As an Operations Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our fulfillment model of Uber Direct, with a strong focus on strategic planning and data-driven decision-making. You will lead establishing the end to end operations of Fleet model to elevate the fulfillment capability to the next level, addressing the various needs of merchants in last one mile delivery.

You will analyze optimal points of demand and supply, develop practical solutions, communicate your insights to our business leaders, partner with multiple business and technical stakeholders to bring our new vision with Fleet partners to life and deliver changes for immediate business impact. You will have end-to-end responsibility for the design, execution and management of your projects. Your work will have a real-world impact, instantly changing the way that people get around cities.

---- What the Candidate Will Do ----

1. Partner management - Being the point of contract for Fleet partners, manage the day to day operation of Fleet model and be in charge of performance tracking and review
2. Data analysis - Use data and analysis to solve business problems. You communicate your insights, verbally and in written form.
3. Operations Management - Identify process inefficiencies, build solutions, and drive operational efficiency (e.g. centralizing repeatable processes, daily/weekly performance reporting)
4. Project Management - Identify the impactful opportunity, design the plan, and execute projects end to end
5. Stakeholder management - Act as an important cross-functional partner to teams working with Uber Direct (Account Management, Sales, Support, Product, Finance, Other Direct Ops)

---- Basic Qualifications ----

1. 4+ years of experience in external facing operations management, account management
2. Data-driven decision making mentality and sound business acumen through strong analytical thinking
3. Analytical problem solving with ability to go deep on data analysis and structured problem solving for complex business problems
4. Strong organization skills with track record of managing projects and working on complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives
5. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence and rally business and functional teams towards a common goal
6. Self-starter, entrepreneurial, high achiever, ability to deliver projects with full autonomy and within demanding timelines
7. Hands-on operator with an approach to quickly test, iterate and scale initiatives
8. Strong Excel/Google Sheets or SQL proficiency
9. Native Japanese, Fluent English language skill

1. Comfortable with analytically heavy topics with SQL ability highly preferred
2. Experience with Python
3. Experience with Tableau
