Job Description
Job Summary:
A Production Planner at TAES will work cross functionally to ensure the company meets customer deadlines and expectations, hits its production goals, and works within budget. They handle all scheduling and ensure the materials, machines, and workspaces are ready for optimized manufacturing. The Production Planner will monitor the overall situation, including incoming orders, supply chain, and inventory issues, to minimize the impact on production. They will not only identify these constraints but also collaborate with other departments and the management team to resolve or overcome these issues while coordinating communication through the Program Management department to the customer. The Production Planner will also evaluate the workforce needs and schedule and work collaboratively with the Integrated Business Planning Manager to make sure the workforce capacity is aligned with customer demand
Detailed Description: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Level loads programs to meet both the need of the customer as well as the internal business
- Contributes to SIOP process by identifying items such as upcoming constraints (material and/or process), priority of assembly order, potential upside, and anticipated bookings
- Releases and manages work orders for assigned programs
- Responsible for sales order ship date maintenance and establishing sales order shipment dates
- Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times
- Monitors schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts
- Revise production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, and backlogs while collaborating with management in programs, production, and/or engineering
- Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders
- Confers with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects
- Prepares production reports related to labor hours, work orders, and material clear to build
- Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions
- Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools and human resource requirements
- Other duties may be assigned as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in a related field and 2-5 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Advanced Experience with Excel and power point; experience with ERP and other business systems a plus
- Experience with complex BOM structures and understanding of BOM process flow
- Problem solving skills cross functionally; evaluate risk and work toward mitigation and solutions
- Experience in a job-shop environment (low and medium volume and high product mix) preferred
- Experience with government contracts
- Basic knowledge of process flow, critical path, bottleneck, FIFO, pull-system, etc. a plus.
