Job Description:

Platform Engineer, Developer Tooling

Join Our Team as a Platform Engineer!

Are you passionate about creating innovative tools that make developers’ lives easier? Do you thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

Created in Fidelity Labs, Catchlight helps financial advisors grow their business by focusing on two simple, yet crucial questions: which prospect should I call next and what might they be interested in. Catchlight can gather up to 2,000 data points on a prospect. These data points can lead to insights which highlight specific needs or interests of a prospect, making it simpler for the advisor to act, saving time and driving 2-3x improvement in conversion.

About the Role

As a Platform Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of developing reusable tooling that minimizes developer overhead and maximizes productivity. You’ll work on exciting projects that span across teams and organizations, making a tangible impact on our engineering processes.

What We’re Looking For

  • A strong understanding of technology with a passion for learning and adapting to new tools and frameworks. You should be someone who stays updated with the latest trends and enjoys experimenting with new technologies to find the best solutions.

  • 2-3 years in object-oriented software development, with a knack for working across teams.

  • Proficiency in TypeScript or Python, and a willingness to dive into multiple languages.

  • A solid grasp of software development best practices, including linting, testing, and continuous integration.

  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • A proven ability to work independently and juggle multiple tasks.

  • An interest in full system design.

What You’ll Do

  • Play a key role in enhancing our inner-source Fidelity library by developing and maintaining high-quality, reusable tools that drive innovation and efficiency across the organization.

  • Partner with engineering teams to understand their needs and create cutting-edge tools that streamline their workflows, reduce bottlenecks, and accelerate the development process.

  • Work on a wide range of engineering projects, from simple scripts to infrastructure as code libraries, to full SDKs.

  • Thrive in a collaborative, startup-like atmosphere where creativity and teamwork are highly valued. You’ll have the opportunity to share ideas, experiment with new technologies, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Gain hands-on experience in designing and building secure systems within a regulated environment. You’ll learn best practices for security and compliance, ensuring that our tools and systems meet the highest standards.

Join us and be part of a team that’s shaping the future of developer productivity. Apply now and let’s build something amazing together! 🚀

Fidelity’s hybrid working model blends the best of both onsite and offsite work experiences. Working onsite is important for our business strategy and our culture. We also value the benefits that working offsite offers associates. Most hybrid roles require associates to work onsite every other week (all business days, M-F) in a Fidelity office.
