Job Description

Company Description

Meridian is the largest producer of renewable electricity in Aotearoa and we strive to deliver clean energy for a fairer and healthier world. We only generate electricity from 100% renewable resources – wind, water and sun, because we believe that’s the best way forward for our planet and our communities. And, we’re doing what we can to help Aotearoa reduce their carbon emissions and supporting others in our communities to do the same.

Together, our two brands, Meridian and Powershop retail electricity to more than 380,000 homes, businesses and farms across New Zealand. Now that’s a pretty impressive combo!

Mō te tūranga | What you’ll be doing

It’s an exciting time to join our Retail team which has undergone a significant change to adopt new modern ways of working. Committed to making energy cleaner and cheaper for Aotearoa New Zealand, our Retail structure is made up of a network of empowered teams, united by a shared purpose and clear goals, equipped with the skills and capabilities to deliver value to customers end to end.

Reporting to the Digital Platforms & Performance Lead, the Platform Manager is responsible for managing the operation, maintenance and development of the technology portfolio that enables us to make energy cleaner and cheaper for Aotearoa. You’ll collaborate across teams to implement, run and enhance the platforms that underpin secure, high-quality digital experiences that deliver value for customers and for Meridian. Joining a newly formed enabling team, you’ll also play a key role establishing culture, defining technical standards, and providing mentoring - building a depth of technical knowledge and craft within the team.

The role involves leading the implementation of new platforms and contributing to the selection of solutions that are reliable, secure, and meet business and customer needs. You will understand platform capabilities and manage the roadmap for changes and enhancements, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive platform innovation and support agile delivery. You’ll also lead vendor relationships, ensuring high quality delivery, adherence to service level agreements and resolving incidents as required.

Ngā pukenga kei a koe mō tenei tūranga | What you’ll bring

We are seeking a digital leader with proven experience in managing technology platforms and systems, with a strong understanding of platform security, compliance, performance management and change implementation. Commercially astute, you’ll have experience in vendor management including contract negotiation and performance monitoring, and demonstrate strong business acumen and commercial expertise. You’ll also have a track record of successful platform selection, implementation and driving system improvements.

The ideal candidate will be someone who possesses excellent project management and communication skills, with a focus on aligning technology with business needs. Your ability to collaborate across teams to optimise platform solutions for customer and business outcomes is crucial. You’ll also have experience mentoring team members and be passionate about sharing your knowledge.

We want all our people to be the best that they can be, so we make sure that there’s room for everyone to be exactly who they are. We believe that fun is good for you, and we make sure that our office vibe reflects that. We support each other and celebrate our successes.
