Intellisense Systems, Inc., is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our growing team in Southern California.

As part of our team, you will develop solutions for novel customer-requested solutions in avionics and related military systems working alongside experienced technical staff. This role will lead software architecture development and implementation as part of our new Advanced Development Team. As an individual technical contributor, you will drive all aspects of avionics software development—you will be responsible for requirement review, coding, and software integration while executing select projects. What You'll Bring to the Table as a Principal Software Engineer:

  • 12+ years contributing to safety-critical software development programs in aerospace, military electronics, or a related field.
  • B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field from an ABET accredited program
  • Self-starter and technical expert that can independently plan, organize, and execute all task activities for embedded software development projects
  • Hands on experience with safety-critical software development working on one or more programs in aerospace or similar field
  • Significant experience with C/C++ embedded software (or other high level programming language)
  • Experience working with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) including Green Hills Integrity, VxWorks, and/or LynxOS
  • Experience with safety-critical embedded system hardware and software projects following DO-178
  • Significant experience developing software requirements, code, and hardware/software integration including checkout on the target hardware, software build creation, problem investigation, and lab debug.
  • Experience designing software systems and modules that support new technology or improve capability/performance of existing products
  • Excellent computer literacy and working knowledge of MS Office
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) including presenting design progress during major project milestones (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR)
  • Hands-on military aircraft experience with a working knowledge of DoD Systems Engineering Principles and Policies
  • U.S. Citizenship is required—Must be willing and able to obtain a Security Clearance or have an active Secret Security Clearance

In addition, the following is also a major plus:

  • Experience with System-on-Chip configuration and integration
  • Able to understand and become proficient with avionics product architectures and how to align with aircraft integration
  • Experience with specialized interfaces ARINC-818, ARINC-661, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-825, ARINC-429, ARINC-708, I2C, and SPI
  • Experience with image or video processing
  • Experience designing graphical user interfaces (GUI) to test product functionality
  • Experience with MOSA, FACE, and/or OMS.

As a Principal Software Engineer, You’ll:

  • Lead department- and corporate-level projects in avionics software development for our next-generation embedded processing capabilities and products
  • Develop and maintain avionics software applications through the complete software lifecycle using C/C++ or other high level programming languages
  • Design software solutions for system level issues utilizing multiple software subsystems
  • Actively participate in code reviews, requirements development, internal audits, and other software-related development activities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the software development and integration process
  • Work with cross-functional engineers (software, verification, systems, SQA) in a team environment
  • Mentor junior colleagues and help troubleshoot problems across multiple software projects across multiple platforms
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and risk analyses at all levels of the system life cycle
  • Prepare technical write-ups and sections for proposals, project reports, and SDRLs
  • Ensure the project's compliance with the applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards, and specifications
  • Engage and maintain relationships with software suppliers, external collaborators, and consultants
  • Other duties as assigned

Pay Range:

$135,000-$200,000

However, base salary for this position will vary based on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
