PURPOSE OF POSITION:

• Design and development of products in Mechanical Engineering department
• Continuous improvement in mechanical design integrity of all products.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of product development.
• Perform tasks in the following areas:

• Customer and Gentex specifications in product design verification testing.
• Product design verification capabilities for mechanical design.
• Perform, evaluate and report on design verification analysis and testing.
• Recommend/propose changes to current and future designs based on product design verification testing.
• Maintain historical database (reports) for the above analyses and tests.
• Support and follow the TS16949 procedure manual formats.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and build test equipment and fixtures as part designs require.
• Aid in product design.
• Aid in the design of production fixtures.
• Benchmark testing.
• Support Gentex patent protection
• Complying with all Company policies and procedures, safety regulations, company safety policies and safely perform all duties, including but not limited to, promoting a safe workplace.
• Maintaining high level of honesty, integrity and confidentiality with respect to company matters.

POSITION DEMANDS:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering preferred; technical degree required
• One to three years experience preferred.
• Knowledge of test methods preferred.
• Must be capable of applying format engineering principles
• Knowledge of Catia solids, plastic molds, die-casting, and metal stamping preferred.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and feasibility, as well as an understanding of automotive design requirements and practices preferred.
• Basic PC skills required.

• This position reports to an ME Manager or Product Design Engineer
• Interaction with Product Design Group.
• Interacts internally with quality, tooling, purchasing, production, facilities, applied materials, and electrical departments.
