Summary

About the position: This position is located at Outdoor Recreation Aquatics on Kadena AB Okinawa, Japan.

This announcement will close on September 10th, 2024. During this announcement, applications will be pulled and reviewed for consideration every other Wednesday. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Experience which provided a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules, and procedures; skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. Water Safety Instructor Certificate is desirable. Must be able to lift and carry 40lbs unassisted and participate in reoccurring physical fitness training.

Certification Requirements:
Current Red Cross Lifeguard: First Aid, CPR, and AED Certificate, identifying date completed and are within 2 years of completion date.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.
  • All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit.
  • Probationary period may be required.
  • Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from hiring preferences and priority consideration eligible.
  • Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement for up to 60/90 days after the closing date. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement.
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
