Scientist/ Senior Scientist: Process Development

Your work at Wildtype

• Improve our upstream cell culture process to achieve higher consistency and robustness
• Lead scale down experiments to replicate and resolve issues identified from pilot and production scale
• Collaborate with our cell line development, media development, midstream, and scale up teams

What you bring to the table

• 5+ years of hands-on process development experience across bench to pilot scales
• Knowledge of considerations in translating bench scale cell culture performance to pilot scale
• Willingness to investigate why any existing process is done a certain way, and explore opportunities to improve or implement changes
• Ability to balance learnings from practical and theoretical knowledge to improve cell culture processes

• Our current animal component free suspension cell culture process (which we will encourage you to then analyze, take apart, and rebuild)

Impact plan

• Within 1 month you will have gained familiarity with Wildtype’s suspension culture processes, and formed directions of investigation for subsequent improvement. You will have designed your first scale down experiments to address questions you have identified. 
• Within 3 months you will have set your professional development goals for the next 2 years. You will have started running your scale down experiments with support from other crewmates.
• Within 6 months you will have gathered enough data to validate and invalidate your initial hypotheses. You will have made your first few recommendations to the next steps of process development, specially to minimize the difference of cell culture performance from bench scale to pilot scale . You will have started investing some time into training others on process development.
• Within 12 months you will have made your mark on Wildtype’s next animal component free upstream cell culture process that leads to improved consistency and robustness from bench scale to pilot scale.
