Job Overview

Sequel Med Tech is seeking a skilled SEC Reporting Manager to play a critical role in establishing and managing our SEC Reporting function, in partnership with current Finance leadership. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and have a strong background in SEC reporting and external financial communications.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Collaborate with Finance leadership to develop the SEC reporting framework in preparation for Sequel’s IPO.
  • Create and document policies, procedures, and controls for SEC reporting processes.
  • Lead the preparation and filing of all SEC-required documents, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, and other filings.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations.
  • Monitor changes in SEC and FASB regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Research and evaluate the effect of new accounting and SEC pronouncements and assist in the implementation of new accounting requirements.
  • Review existing and potential accounting policies to ensure consistency and compliance with General
  • Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC requirements.
  • Manage the preparation of quarterly external financial reporting, including earnings releases and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors as needed for timely and accurate filings.
  • Assist in developing quarterly investor relations presentations.
  • Support the preparation of financial data and analysis for investor and analyst calls.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external auditors during quarterly and annual reviews.
  • Provide additional information as needed to support audit processes and ensure timely resolution of audit inquiries.
  • Coordinate the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of systems and tools used to support SEC filings and internal reporting.
  • Ensure the reporting infrastructure is scalable and efficient to meet organizational needs.
  • Partner with Accounting, Finance, Legal, and Investor Relations teams to ensure alignment and accuracy in all reporting.
  • Provide guidance and training to internal stakeholders on SEC reporting requirements and best practices.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • CPA certification required
  • 5+ years of experience in SEC reporting, public accounting, or a combination thereof.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience working in a Big 4 accounting firm
  • Previous experience working in a pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device company preferred
  • Experience with IPO’s or operating in a public company environment
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Experience researching and implementing new accounting standards and requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting software and tools.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Experience with Netsuite preferred
