Senior BI Engineer

About the Role

As a Senior BI Engineer at JustAnswer you’ll take on a pivotal role in building and optimizing our Business Intelligence (BI) infrastructure enabling the generation of data-driven insights crucial for business decisions. You’ll leverage your advanced SQL and ETL expertise design efficient data models and collaborate with cross-functional teams to create impactful BI solutions. This role is ideal for a BI expert with deep technical skills a strong analytical mindset and a passion for working on complex data projects that support strategic business initiatives.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement optimized database structures leveraging expert SQL skills to enable fast efficient data querying and analysis.

• Develop and maintain ETL processes to ensure smooth data integration from multiple sources and support business reporting.

• Build and enhance BI reporting applications using a leading BI dashboarding platform like Power BI Tableau or Looker.

• Use functional and object-oriented programming languages to support data processing automation and complex data transformations.

• Execute the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for BI solutions ensuring high quality scalability and data integrity.

• Work collaboratively with analysts engineers architects and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

• Follow Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) for efficient project execution and continuous improvement.

• Write conduct and maintain automated tests to ensure data quality and system reliability.

• Troubleshoot debug and optimize BI solutions to maintain performance and usability.

• Document and maintain data catalogs best practices and technical documentation for the BI team.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence engineering data engineering or a related field.

• Proven expertise in SQL with the ability to design efficient and complex queries.

• Strong background in data analysis and a demonstrated ability to derive insights from complex datasets.

• Extensive experience building ETLs to integrate and manage data from diverse sources.

• Proficiency with BI dashboarding platforms (e.g. Power BI Tableau Looker) to develop and manage visual reports.

• Experience with functional and object-oriented programming languages like Python .NET (C#) or JavaScript.

• Strong problem-solving skills for complex data challenges and a creative approach to data solutions.

• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
