IT Project Office Manager

Position Summary
Tennant is looking for a thought and execution leader to mature its PMO.
The role of the Project Office Manager is to help define what we do and how we do it by establishing, implementing, developing, and controlling best practices for project management throughout the IT organization. This includes defining and documenting all policies and processes of project lifecycles to deliver projects according to plan and within budget.
In this position, you will provide oversight and ensure adherence to established best practices by collaborating with Business Relationship Managers and the Enterprise Process Board in the intake of new project requests and the handoff of approved projects to project managers, overseeing gate reviews, evaluating go-live preparedness and maintaining elevated levels of customer-centered support during the hypercare period.
Demand and capacity management is a critical function, forecasting and tracking the availability of people throughout the project life cycle with responsibilities spanning projects and delivery teams globally. Monthly and annual portfolio reporting will be required, based on information collected from project teams, along with oversight on the closure of projects with follow-up reporting.
Management of high-risk, high-visibility projects may be required from time to time.
Additionally, this leader will play an active role in the ERP Modernization program that will move our organization from our current ERP platforms to SAP's S/4 HANA.
Responsibilities
- Define how the scope, goals, and deliverables of IT projects should support business goals in collaboration with senior management.
- Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project lifecycle.
- Effectively communicate and manage project expectations to project managers, owners, sponsors, team members, and other stakeholders clearly and concisely.
- Determine frequency and content of status reports from project managers, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas/mitigate project risks.
- Forecasting future resource capacity and reporting on existing resource utilization.
- Presenting accurate representations of project progress, health, risks, and ongoing challenges.
- Attending various steering committee and PMO meetings, representing the PMO and project management interests.
- Ensure the completeness and currency of project and portfolio reporting.
- Manage portfolio and project processes to maximize the throughput of selected projects.
- Develop best practices, techniques, and tools for project planning, execution, project management, ongoing milestone/deliverable tracking, communication, and key performance metrics.
- Communicate project management standards and techniques.
- Conduct project reviews and create recommendations to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
- Coach, mentor and motivate project team leads.
- Provide coordination and alignment with the Global IT Team on the delivery of services and projects.
- Plan, organize and facilitate Monthly Operating Reviews.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of direct work experience in an IT project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution.
- Strong familiarity with project management software.
- Experience in developing and deploying project best practices, policies, procedures, and processes.
- Demonstrated experience in personnel management.
- Experience with ERP solutions and implementations (SAP experience preferred.)
- Self-starter, able to operate independently and in changing environments.
- Demonstrated experience in effective Change Management.
- Experience managing others directly and/or indirectly through mentoring, coaching and persuasion.

- Ability to research project and portfolio management issues and products as required.
