Our mission is to deliver innovative digital solutions across various industries, including healthcare, government, finance, legal, real estate, and startups.The Opportunity:TECKpert is looking to hire an experienced and versatile Senior Project Manager ("Senior PM"), for our client a state agency in Tallahasee, FL. The Senior PM is someone who can operate autonomously and brings strong communication and organizational skills to the table. As a Project Manager, you will need to adeptly navigate State, Department, and Application Services protocols and workflows.
To excel in this role, you should hold a certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and continually update your skill set to encompass Agile methodologies. A solid grasp of Oversight Project Management responsibilities, combined with robust business analysis capabilities, is essential. Moreover, a foundational understanding of IT State procurement methods and practices will serve you well.
The ideal candidate will possess a wealth of knowledge and expertise in project management techniques, tools, resource management practices, and change management strategies. At times, you may be required to wear multiple hats, acting as both a Project Manager and a Business Analyst on one or more projects. This role hinges on its interdisciplinary nature, making it crucial for you to manage multiple sizable and/or cross-functional projects, each with a significant impact on our enterprise.

Job Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Manage and proactively update project status tracking.
  • Complete the necessary project status reporting as required by the Department.
  • Understand and comply with the reporting and documentation requirements.
  • Updates the schedule status as required, produce reports, track variances, identify pending milestones and scheduled tasks slippage.
  • Analyze the schedule, including ensuring that schedule logic is consistent and maintained, analyzing what-if scenarios, and reviewing critical-path.
  • Work with the Project Team and vendors to collect project status, schedule updates, identify and resolve conflicts.
  • Analyze, prepare, validate, and maintain cost estimates, detailed baseline budgets and monthly cost variance reports.
  • Update the project budget and project forecasts, perform cost variance analysis.
  • Perform legislative budget requests duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

LocationThis is an on-site position. Candidates must be located in or near Tallahassee, Florida. Compensation and Term:This is a full-time, contract position with potential extensions. Compensation varies with experience, up to $135,000. Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance are available after 30 days of hire.Qualifications You Need:The successful Senior Project Manager should have the following qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Communication or other related field.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute (PMI).
  • Six (6) years of professional experience in Information Systems, Business Administration, or Communications.
  • Experience in compiling legislative budget requests is highly desired. 
  • Experience with public speaking, training, or communicating detailed information to large groups is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, practices, tools and techniques outlined in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) (current version).
  • Knowledge of various types of contracts, and development techniques for procurement documents such as; Requests for Quotes (RFQ), Requests for Purchase (RFP), Invitation to Bid (ITB), Invitation to Negotiate (ITN), and Single Source.
  • Skill in the use of the methods and tools used for risk assessment and mitigation of risks.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage projects and resources from a high and discreet level, including cost, work, and Vendor performance.
  • Ability to categorize work, set priorities, and determine short and/or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them.
  • Ability to accurately estimate time requirements for assigned tasks for a project.
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and prioritize work assignments.
  • Ability to put the ideologies, techniques, and tools into practice.
  • Ability to discreetly reconcile project budgets.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of the system development life cycle.
  • Ability to produce legible and complete functional documentation in a way that thoroughly captures all business requirements, processes and inputs/outputs of activities.
  • Ability to analyze and accurately define processes and workflows to design efficient process solutions, including missing or duplicate functionality in existing processes.
  • Ability to work effectively with individual staff and a work unit, to identify and document requirements for the maintenance, enhancement or development of computer application systems, including technical overviews and context diagrams.
  • Ability to evaluate data outputs from computer application and identify system problems.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical information related to business processes, computer programming and data processing, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform QA reviews and provide valuable feedback in determining that standards are met and that documents are complete and comprehensive.
  • Strong understanding of project budget reconciliation to approved budget.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.
  • Ability to relate to customers’ needs, document their requirements and perform duties in the absence of staff.
  • Ability to receive and give constructive criticism, and maintain effective work relationships with others.
  • Ability to adjust to changing demands in a dynamic environment with diverse work assignments.
