Job Description:

Cox Automotive is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to join our dynamic operations team. This is full-time employee position based in our Atlanta, GA office, and will be "hybrid" work-from-home role requiring the selected candidate to come into our Atlanta office approx once a week.

the selected Senior Technical Project Manager will play a critical role in managing and delivering complex technology projects in our infrastructure operations environment. The ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum and Kanban, as well as PMI Project Management concepts. The candidate must also be familiar with the Scaled Agile Framework for the enterprise (SAFe) and have experience supporting Agile Release Train organizations and/or infrastructure operations teams. Desired candidate must be assertive and possess strong leadership skills and the ability to build consensus across teams.

What you will be doing:

Project Management: Lead and oversee the successful execution of technology projects from initiation to closure, ensuring adherence to project objectives, timelines, and budget constraints. Apply Agile principles to enhance project efficiency and adaptability.

Agile Expertise: Demonstrate a strong understanding of Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum and Kanban. Experience supporting Development teams who maintain an Agile Mindset. Will facilitate regular agile sync meetings and attend release train team meetings to share updates and gather inputs for projects.

People Engagement: Possess exceptional leadership and facilitation skills to effectively guide cross-functional teams and foster a collaborative work environment. Strong people skills are essential to motivate and inspire team members. Must demonstrate servant leadership skills, and a friendly, positive, "can-do" attitude. We are a "willing to help" team and are looking for team-players who possess a similar disposition. Will work with operations leadership team to write features and provide updates on progress made toward project completions.

Communication: Communicate complex technical concepts and project updates in a clear and concise manner to non-technical stakeholders. Facilitate training activities and support continuous learning initiatives across the organization. Surface issues in a timely manner and create a mitigation plan for risks as they arise.

Issue Resolution: Proactively identify and address project issues as they arise, preventing them from escalating into significant challenges. Demonstrate a proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.

Organization and Planning: Exhibit strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively. Develop detailed project plans, track progress, and identify potential risks and mitigations.

SAFe Implementation: Support and contribute to the successful implementation of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) within the organization. Collaborate with Agile Release Trains and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Certifications: Preferred certifications for this role include SAFE Certifications, PMI Project Management Certifications, Certified Scrum Master, and Kanban Management Professional.

Rally Experience: Experience working with Rally, or similar Agile project management tools, is a plus.

Operations and AWS: Experience working with infrastructure operations teams and AWS experience are desirable but not required. Ability to successfully coordinate projects across operations teams.

What we require from you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field plus 4+ years of relevant work experience; or a Master's degree plus 2+ years of relevant work experience; or a PhD plus 0-1 years of relevant experience
  • In lieu of a degree, qualified candidates would require 8+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager in an infrastructure technology environment.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, Scrum, and Kanban principles.
  • Strong understanding and implementation experience with PMI Project Management concepts and best practices.
  • Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Agile Release Train organizations.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Enthusiastic, positive, and friendly demeanor.
  • Initiative-driven and able to take ownership of projects and tasks.
