AR work is characterised by its detailed and complex nature in order to systematically combine existing knowledge and practices to further developing and incrementally improving products, operational processes, and customer-specific feature development.

• Proactively anticipate technological trends and business challenges, leveraging this foresight to guide strategic innovations in products, services, and processes. Lead cross functional teams across business units to create a Technology Strategy vision for positioning Nokia as an industry pioneer in cutting edge technology.
• Employ your expertise in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, IoT and Wireless Networks, Enterprise Networking, Multi-cloud Technologies, and Network & Infrastructure Security to lead our technology strategy and product evolution.

Standards & Intellectual property Excellence:

• Establish and refine guidelines and criteria for the definition of industry-leading technology standards, ensuring Nokia's establishment as a thought leader in the space.
• Cultivate a culture of innovation in the space of advanced technologies, supporting the organization in building intellectual property and patents in the technologies relevant to its business.

Strategic Influence & Decision-Making:

• Leverage your comprehensive understanding of the technology, business, and commercial ecosystem in shaping strategic decisions for significant impact on Nokia's competitive positioning and overall business performance.
• Lead cross functional teams across business units, globally to collectively solve complex, multifaceted problems with original, innovative solutions that have a broad and lasting impact on the business landscape.

Professional Development & Organizational Strategy:

• Guide and monitor the professional growth within cross functional teams, aligning talent development with strategic business objectives.
• As a recognized authority and strategic expert, both internally and externally, lead high-risk, complex projects with adeptness, setting the blueprint for project strategy and execution.

• Identify and evaluate new technology & product development opportunities, understanding their relevance and potential impact on our strategic direction, enabling Nokia to capitalize on emerging market opportunities, driving growth and innovation.

Scope & Contribution

Functional Manager

• Responsible for definition of Technology Strategy in the responsibility area by leading cross functional teams of Technology strategy leads spread across Business Units & geographies. Demonstrates strategic thinking, assumes broad perspective. Designs and/or develops original programs, projects, content for functional subject areas. Manages implementation/utilization through other organisation resources. Authorised to take decisions within responsibility area.

  • Anticipates internal and external technology and business challenges and / or regulatory issues and drives process, product or service improvements that create competitive advantage. Should be well versed and skilled in technologies like Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Wireline and Wireless Telecome Networks, Enterprise Networking, Multi-cloud technologies, Network and Infrastructure Security.

Impact is short to medium term and influences business unit results and/or customer relationships. Accountable for setting function/program goals, managing cost performance and ensuring achievement through people and processes. Decisions and actions will normally impact business, program, project, function. Predominant authority for development of new products, processes, standards or operational plans based upon business strategy.

High degree of independence within agreed policies, targets and budgets. Problem solving generally requires research and creative thought. Develops and applies new, innovative approaches to complex or infrequently occurring problems. Formulates operational guidelines. Ensures immediate working environment encourages innovation.Stretches beyond comfort zone to support a variety of senior roles and deliver business value in changing business environments.

Communication

Operates mostly at the senior level of the business with a global mindset and in many different environments (e.g. outside of home country, new business unit/entity, different cultures).Negotiates and compromises to influence internal and external parties who may have conflicting objectives to accept concepts, practices and approaches.Requires communication with senior executive leadership ( internal / external) and creation of a collaborative working environment e.g. in engaging and inspiring manner

Knowledge & Experience

Management experience across several functional areas or businesses. Mastery of a specific professional discipline combining deep knowledge of theory and practice or expertise across several different disciplines within a function. Command of content of sub function. Recognised thought leader. Typically requires 10-12 years extensive relevant experience and/or a graduate / postgraduate equivalent degree. PhD degree would normally be expected in R&D stream.
