Job Description

As part of our growth, we are seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to support our New England Traffic Engineering team on a variety of interesting projects of varying sizes and scopes. This is a great opportunity to get a range of experience to expand your career, while also having an opportunity to mentor more junior Engineers.

This role can be based out of any of our New England Offices: Chelmsford, MA; Boston, MA; Manchester, NH; Rocky Hill, CT; Providence, RI with occasional travel to our Chelmsford office.

The responsibilities of the Senior Traffic Engineer role include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage Traffic Tasks - prepare scopes and fees; manage staffing, schedule, changes, issues, quality, and budget
  • Participate in client project meetings
  • Support business development efforts - get involved in professional organizations, meet new potential clients, and support proposal development
  • Coordinate and collaborate closely with Transportation Planners and Civil Engineers working on multi-disciplinary projects
  • Develop Traffic Engineering plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E) including signs, pavement markings, traffic signals, roundabouts, and traffic management plans/temporary traffic control
  • Perform construction services for Traffic Engineering projects - review submittals, respond to requests for information, offer field advice, etc.
  • Prepare technical reports, various traffic and parking studies, as well as transportation planning studies.
  • Support design-bid-build and design-build projects
  • Stay up-to-date on new technologies and industry trends
  • Mentor junior Traffic Engineers

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or directly related field and 6 years of Traffic Engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Adaptive Signal Control, Transit Signal Priority, and other traffic signal technology experience
  • Experience using traffic simulation software, such as VISSIM
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) Certifiication

Additional Information

Relocation assistance is not available for this role.

We are interested in every qualified candidate eligible to work in the United States. Permanent residency sponsorship is available for current OPT, F1 or H1-B visa holders in the United States.

Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (Massachusetts locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000.
