Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Transit Systems Engineering Manager based in Baltimore, Maryland.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing designs and ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
• Developing and modifying single line diagrams, schematics, conduit, and wire schedules.
• Developing technical, design, and functional specifications for power equipment, accessories, and related systems' replacement and installation.
• Building technical documentation using client specifications, design standards, and own research as inputs.
• Ensuring documentation is accurate, complete, and adheres to style guidelines for high quality and usability.
• Reviewing vendor documentation to ensure compliance with client standards, policies, and procedures.
• Conducting research and analyses relating to existing or required technical documents, involving client processes, operations, and safety standards.
• Preparing material/equipment specifications and purchase requisitions.
• Reviewing supplier data, witnessing shop tests, and assessing supplier manufacturing capabilities.
• Performing tests, issuing reports, identifying non-compliances according to quality procedures, and directing remedial actions
• Developing technical and construction cost estimates for projects, and engineering budgets and schedules to meet requirements.
• Liaising with Subject Matter Experts/Engineers and clients, coordinating on the content of technical documentation, and performing independent research of existing technical specifications to revise and refine them.
• Assisting with the development of technical proposals.
• Coordinating and providing technical expertise for mid- to large-size projects.
• Providing estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large, complex projects.
• Managing a team of Systems Engineers responsible for Systems and Electrical engineers focusing on Signalling, Telecom, SCADA and Rolling Stock Systems.
• Leading technical client relationships and playing a major role in selling.
• Leading discipline department efforts to grow technical expertise.
• Leading technical business development work.
• Providing specialized technical input to studies and designs in specific areas of expertise.
• Approving and signing off on work.
• Acting as a leader in one or more areas of technology.
• Senior technical resource may serve as a technical advisor for the team

Qualifications

Minimum:

• BS Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field, plus10 years experience in electrical or systems engineering or demonstrated equivalence of experience and/or education
• Experience with power distribution systems, communications/networking, computer systems, electronic security systems/CCTV or SCADA systems
• Experience with the design, and commissioning of signaling and non-signaling Train to Ground Radio systems
• 6 plus years experience in transit or related industry
• Experience with the following Metro and Regional Automated Rail Architectures:
  • Backbone communication, wayside /onboard systems, ATS/ ATC rail, CBTC, communication unicast/multicast designs for Station PA/CIS, fare collection, CCTV and tlephones.
  • Signaling integration: ETCS, CBTC, PTC, PLC / RTU systems, backbone fiber/cable routing plans
  • Ethernet Networks: Metro, WAN, LAN & wireless infrastructures
  • Ethernet Transport: Connection-Oriented Ethernet (COE), MPLS architectures Metro and Optical Transport: SONET, DWDM, COE, MPLS-TP, OTN
  • Industrial Transport: ICS SCADA, TDM, CBTC and conventional vital / non-vital
  • Rail Signaling Digitalization: IOT, LTE / 4G / 5G, onboard COMs/Wi-Fi Portals, and
  • Cyber Security Last Mile Solutions: VSAT, VDSL, VPN, VPL and legacy TDM solutions

Preferred:

• Professional License
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit3D Modeling
• Experience in problem-solving and analysis in a technical capacity
• Experience with communication, research writing, and organizational skills
