What's the Short Version?
The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) plays a key role in ensuring software projects, products and enhancements meet SanMar's quality standards by implementing automated testing solutions and frameworks that increase testing efficiencies and reduce cycle times. The SDET is responsible for developing and maintaining test automation frameworks, standards and coding guidelines based on industry best practices and SanMar QA standards.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Standardize test automation and performance testing processes across multiple projects, developing performance test scenarios, benchmarks, and documenting performance requirements.
- Build a robust and scalable automation framework to support current and future technology stacks.
- Responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting performance testing systems and strategies.
- Maintain existing automation scripts which simulate customer interactions, sales orders, invoicing, etc.
- Coordinate with vendors for performance test execution and script updates
- Evaluate and design automated scripts to ensure end-to-end test coverage; assist with execution as needed.
- Prepare data sets to test logic, error handling, and system workflows, externally driving the data into scripts for reusability and maintainability.
- Assist in integrating automation with the software delivery pipeline (CI/CD) and operationalizing automated smoke tests and daily automated runs for software releases.
- Execute performance tests, which may include load testing, stress testing, and scalability testing; monitor system resources during testing to collect performance data.
- Collaborate with the development team to implement performance enhancements and optimizations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
What Are We Looking For?
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience.
- 4-6 years relevant experience as a SDET.
- Understanding of software architecture, databases, and eCommerce.
- Technical hands-on experience developing automation and performance testing frameworks and solutions using proprietary and/or open-source tools.
- Strong ability to create data-driven automated frameworks for extensive UI and back-end data validation using SQL and one or more programming languages like Java, JavaScript, C#, VB Script, Python, or Ruby.
- Extensive experience with one or more automation tools like Selenium WebDriver, Coded-UI, etc.
- Extensive experience with one or more performance tools like LoadRunner, K6, Neoload, Cloud test, JMeter, etc.
- Experience with web services automation (SOAP and REST) using tools like Soap-UI, WebTest, Postman, or REST Assured, including good working knowledge of XML and JSON.
- Strong working knowledge of Continuous Integration/ Continuous Delivery and DevOps; experience using tools like Azure DevOps.
- Demonstrated skill using code repositories, preferably Git.
- Familiarity with both Windows and Linux environments.
- Knowledge of Agile and rapid development methodologies.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills to find root cause of complex issues required.
- Demonstrated skill in testing enterprise multi-tiered software.
- Knowledge of security, performance, load, stress and scalability testing a plus.
- Passion for finding bottlenecks and thresholds in existing code through the use of automation tools.
- Passion for continuing education and improving code quality through interaction with the development team.
- Communicates a ‘can do’ attitude and positive outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience and/or understanding of middleware is a plus.
What's Our Offer?
Salary Range: You`ll earn between $100,000 - $130,000 annually, depending on experience.
Bonus: You`ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 10% of base salary.
Paid Time Off: You`ll accrue paid time off on a bi-weekly basis based on hours worked up to 112 hours per year to start. Employees also receive 8 paid holidays and 1 paid family day off.

What Should You Expect?
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work environment is moderately quiet. Ability to work on computer for multiple hours with frequent interruptions.
SanMar's Eastpointe office is located near Seattle, WA and our standard working hours are 8:00-5:00 PST. Quarterly travel may be required.
