Staff Engineer

In recent years, Double Good has seen 40% year over year growth, and we’re excited about our future! We’re excited about the possibility of you joining our mission. We are looking for a Staff Engineer to join our growing Product Tech team.

Location - Hybrid - Chicago Loop

About the role:

• As a Staff Engineer, you will be part of the senior engineering team at Double Good. You will work on a high-volume e-commerce system with a direct, visible impact on thousands of youth organizations and technology projects
• Your role will be to coach engineers so that the overall engineering organization continues to evolve and improve. You will surface new ideas, and then coach teams through implementation and hands-on development.

• You be part of our Internal Tooling team working with a variety of tools and with people from all across the company. By being exposed to all aspects of DG’s products and business you will be able to make a direct impact on thousands of youth organizations and technology projects.

• Work in a highly collaborative environment with cross-functional teams on projects ranging from a few days to a few months in length
• Our team is talented, diverse, fun, and passionate about what we do. We are an intellectually curious bunch who come from a variety of interesting backgrounds and places.

• We are a well-organized engineering team following industry best practices that balance the longevity and growth of the company. We have a strong, Chicago-based, manufacturing presence with software engineering teams in Poland and Ukraine.

• We use a mix of Typescript, React, Node.js, Next.JS, Retool, Postgres, AWS SQS to name a few) 

Experience & Skills we value:

• 10+ years of software development experience with a degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Experience working in a variety of languages and systems with a firm understanding of industry best practices
• Deep experience within our technical ecosystem: Node.js, TypeScript, Next.js, Postgres RDS, DynamoDB, Serverless Framework +Terraform, AWS Lambda, AWS SQS, React, and React Native
• Enjoy the art in code you write and work hard to make it maintainable for your future self as well as your colleagues on your team
• Strong technical understanding of cloud computing, distributed system architecture, and information security
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• You are comfortable expressing yourself with written and verbal communication

Nice to have and/or you’ll learn: 

• Experience in software for supply chain and logistics
• Love good statistical analysis and the power of data-driven decisions
• E-commerce experience
