About the Internship

The Structural Division is involved in all aspects of a project and the internship is geared to allow students to learn and develop their specific areas of interest within the field of Structural Design.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced Port Authority Structural Engineers with site visits, development of project scope and design, preparing design computations and details, and resolution of construction issues for bridges, buildings, tunnels and other structures, at a variety of Port Authority facilities.
• Draft meeting minutes for design progress meetings.
• Prepare estimates of construction quantities and construction costs.
• Prepare design schedules and structural design details.

Minimum Qualifications

• Enrollment at a college/university through Summer 2025 and into the Fall 2025 semester
• Rising sophomore, junior, or senior
• Major in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong visualization and familiarity with structural software and modeling
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey regional transportation
• Willingness to learn

Internship Details

• The start date will be Thursday, May 29, 2025

• The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 22, 2025

• This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)

• The format is expected to be hybrid

Compensation & Benefits

• The hourly rate range is $17.63 to $27.21 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
