Job purpose

In this key project team position, you will be responsible for leading the Systems Engineering activities through the complete V-cycle for electronically controlled automotive drivetrain systems working with the rest of the product development team. You will lead the system requirements analysis and decomposition, the systems architecture development and the integration of Functional Safety and Cyber Security requirements into the overall product development process. You will ensure that the system requirements are properly specified and balanced to meet customer and internal specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of the total system solution while meeting technical, schedule and cost constraints.
• Perform requirements analysis, management, and documentation through the development cycle.
• Ensure the logical, systematic decomposition and transformation of customer and internal stakeholder requirements into achievable product and subsystem requirements.
• Perform system architecture development including system feature definitions, and external and internal interface development.
• Support the product development team with technical design analysis, trade-off studies, FMEA/FTA activities, design reviews and customer presentations.
• Support the development of a robust requirements management process through all levels of the V-cycle.
• Work with the program team to allocate subsystem and component requirements and ensure that are verified with bi-directional traceability.
• Drive the integration of the Systems V-Model into BorgWarner engineering processes and procedures.
• Determine the best techniques and procedures for system analysis, design, and testing.
• Document and share best practices.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and team members; serve as a role model within the project teams.

What were looking for

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
• 8+ years of engineering experience in one or more of the following areas
  • Systems Engineering
  • Automotive electronics product development
  • Automotive powertrain / driveline design and development
• Experience working with the requirements development, change management and work product configuration management processes
• Ability to work effectively across functional and geographic boundaries in the interest of the customer and the business
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Requirements

• Knowledge of embedded control software and software development processes
• Experience with requirements management tools (Doors, Polarion, etc.) Experience with System Architecture development tools (Simulink, Enterprise Architect, Rapsody, etc.)
• Experience with ASPICE, Functional Safety (ISO-26262), Cyber Security (ISO-21434) and other automotive standard development processes
