Job purpose

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for "dynamic, results driven" individual to join as a Systems Development Engineer. The Systems Development Engineer will be responsible for the development, definition, and specification of system-level platform deployable requirements and architecture of traction application automotive electrification systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical development for the system features with cross-functional development teams, component leads, and customers
• Negotiate the technical requirements, scope, and deliverables for platform deployable system solutions
• Ensure designs meet requirements and monitor test quality and coverage
• Drive engineering competencies, suppliers, and partners to ensure commitment to internal quality processes during development, execution, and verification
• Lead the technical analysis, trade-off studies, FMEAs, design reviews and customer presentations for the defined features & solutions
• Work closely with the systems modelling team to drive a simulation-based approach, where feasible
• Support the definition and continuous improvement of systems engineering processes, methods, and tools
• Document and share best-practices

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• Master's degree in Engineering (Preferred)
• Working knowledge of and 3+ years of experience in the design and development of automotive electrification systems including:
  • Electric machines
  • Power electronics
  • Automotive low voltage electronics
• Knowledge of requirements elicitation, analysis, definition, and management
• Knowledge of embedded control software (e.g., eMachine and power electronics control), software development processes, and serial communication protocols (e.g., CAN, CAN-FD, FlexRay, LIN, etc.).
• Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for requirements optimization
• Knowledge of safety analysis for automotive systems (e.g., ISO 26262 Functional Safety, DFMEA, FMEA, FMEDA and FTA)
• Experience using model based/ SysML tools for system architecture development (e.g. Sparx EA, IBM Rhapsody, ANSYS Scade, etc.)
• Experience using change & configuration tools (e.g., JIRA, IBM RTC, Git, BitBucket, etc.)
• Experience using requirements management tools (e.g., Polarion, DOORS, PTC Windchill, IBM DNG, etc.)
• Works under limited supervision
• Follows & contributes to BW ASPICE-based processes for assigned role
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language
• Organized and structured workstyle and attention to detail
• Ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively
• Travel 15% required, domestic and international
