Terminal Dynamic Planner

Rijeka Gateway d.o.o. (RGW), a joint venture between A.P.Moller-Maersk Group through APM Terminals and ENNA Group through ENNA Logic, is reaching the final stage of the big project: building the high-tech Rijeka Gateway Terminal.

This key position is overall accountable for:

• The position is responsible for controlling and planning the complete vessel, rail, and yard process to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency with due consideration to vessel and inter-modal operations.
• Support SPC team for a static plan with the information requested and check if the plan they provide is aligned with the company standard.
• Communicate with the line stowage coordinator and shipping lines for a dynamic plan.

Principal accountabilities:

• Ensure that yard operations are running at the level of productivity required to ensure service delivery by the terminal’s transportation flows, such as vessel, gate or rail operations.
• Create and maintain a yard set up which supports the terminals productivity targets per quay crane operation & truck turn-times.
• Ensure 100% yard inventory accuracy & integrity.
• Control yard space allocation adherence for empty and full equipment.
• Prepare the 'yard work plan' on a daily basis and communicate to relevant persons where the equipment must be located.
• Prepare the workflow related to housekeeping, empty movement, corrections etc.
• Report on a weekly basis on the status of production, yard density, equipment utilization and strategy/allocation changes.
• Nominate empty equipment for shipment as directed by the concerned shipping line
• Provide the yard operation administration.
• Maintain ownership of the vessels under operations having control of the execution of the vessel operation plan and assist dispatchers if planning disturbances occur during vessel call.
• Responsible to be the link between terminal operations Office with Vessel’s command, Agent and Line operators.
• Preparation and execution of discharge and load plans to support, achieve and sustain productivity targets for rail operations.
• Monitors the execution of the rail operation plan.
• Act as a focal point for yard, rail and vessel planning activities.
• Monitor and fine-tune the terminal operating system to ensure that yard, vessel and rail planning is satisfactory and meets the strategy requirements.
• Check and support an accurate and efficient information flow on the terminal related to all yard, vessel and rail activities.
• Identify and solve problems and issues on a daily basis, usually of a moderate to highly complex nature.
• In co-operation with other planning staff implement the overall yard, vessel and rail strategy.
• The key impact of this incumbent will be the maintenance of operational efficiencies in the terminal.
• Report problems and issues, especially issues of complexity or impact on the operation.

Reporting and Scope:

• No direct reports
• The position reports to Planning Manager.
• The scope of the position is primarily local/domestic.
• The position will work in shifts in organized rosters 24/7.

Critical Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

Experience:

• Requires at least 2 years of previous experience as a yard or vessel planner for a container terminal operation (previous experience as a dispatcher in a container terminal environment will be an advantage).
• Requires sound knowledge of container vessel stowage and stability criteria.
• Requires sound knowledge of yard lay-out and operating techniques.
• Requires sound knowledge of TOS yard and vessel planning and strategic functionality.
• Certificate in hazardous cargo handling is an advantage.
• Has familiarity with the strict implementation of international standards of safe working practices within marine, stevedoring and terminal operations.
• Excellent verbal and written language skills in English and Croatian.

Education

• University degree in Operations Management, Logistics, or related professional qualification.
