Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Urban Designer for employment in our Dallas Office (Hybrid). This opportunity is anticipated to begin before the end of the year (2023).
About Buildings + Places & Urbanism and Planning.
AECOM's Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building engineering, workplace strategy, business transformation, asset advisory, and other similar businesses.
It is also home to our Urbanism and Planning practice, a collaborative of designers, economists, data scientists, policy researchers, and social activists who are advancing an agenda of progressive city building. This position's primarily responsibilities is to support our national efforts in leading urban design initiatives and to support the development and growth of our design studios.
AECOM is searching for candidates that are detail focused, capable of working on multi-disciplinary projects, and work well individually as well as on a team. The following are qualities we are looking for in this requisition:
- Responsible for initiating and developing site plans, based on direction and feedback from project team
- Under limited supervision, completes design assignments of limited complexity
- Applies a basic level of understanding on how urban design and physical planning affects the built environmentand can direct junior staff in the production of creating plans
- Feels comfortable working on projects that are a team effort, but can also lead internal team assignments
- Understand how to conduct existing conditions site analysis
- Candidates must show strong graphic skills and ability to communicate ideas and concepts through clear diagrams and data visualization.
- Designer that are collaborative and have a professional work ethic
- We seek designers with an understanding of building massing and block design; housing and commercial typologies; site circulation; programming; master planning; public processes and community outreach.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS +2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Master's degree in Urban planning, Architecture, Urban Design or other related fields
- Experience in medium to large scale-urban design projects
- Demonstratedexperience with AutoCAD, GIS,Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, or SketchUp is preferred
- Ability to manage day-to-day requests from clients
