Web Development Technical Lead

We are seeking an experienced Web Development Technical Lead to oversee the technical operations of our web development team. This pivotal role involves managing the technical aspects of our WordPress sites, mentoring developers, and ensuring the successful delivery and maintenance of multiple websites. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep WordPress expertise, a passion for performance optimization, and a commitment to fostering innovation and best practices.

YOUR CHALLENGE:

• Lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team of developers from various geographical locations, ensuring technical excellence and professional growth.
• Collaborate with other leads and platform engineering to direct the architecture and technical roadmap for all our Wordpress sites.
• Provide daily guidance and support to team members across various geographical locations with varying skill levels.
• Oversee the maintenance, updates, and enhancements of a portfolio of WordPress websites.
• Manage the full development lifecycle under the direction of the Web Development Manager.
• Collaborate with Product Owners to translate business needs into technical requirements.
• Conduct comprehensive code reviews to uphold high standards of quality, efficiency, and security.
• Stay updated on emerging WordPress technologies and industry trends to integrate innovative practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues promptly and effectively.

TO DO IT, YOU WILL NEED:

• Proven experience leading development teams, particularly in WordPress environments
• Strong expertise in performance tuning and website optimization.
• In-depth knowledge of WordPress architecture, including core functionality, REST API, Theme and Plugin development and Gutenberg block development.
• Familiarity with SEO practices, particularly improving Core Web Vitals.
• Proficiency in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Familiar with Wordpress Plugin eco system
• Expertise with version control systems, especially GIT.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
• Solid understanding of caching strategies, including CDN and WordPress caching mechanisms.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage projects and collaborate with global, cross-functional teams.
• Experience with Agile or Scrum frameworks.
• Expertise in infrastructure platforms such as Cloudflare, AWS, and other hosting solutions to ensure optimal website performance and scalability.
