The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF A MASON WITH OUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION INCLUDING: 1) Lay a variety of brick, block, and stone (e.g. firebrick, structural tile, concrete blocks, glass blocks, terra cotta and artificial and natural stone) to repair items such as partitions, walls, walkways, manholes, boilers, catch basins, chimneys, and fireplaces; 2) Work from oral instructions, blueprints, work orders, and rough sketches to complete assigned tasks; 3) Use a variety of hand and power tools such as trowels, mixers, chisels, hammers, crowbars, brick or skill saws, axes, and picks to remove or prepare walls for repair and cut and shape brick and stone. A forty-hour work week is typical of this position. The employee may be required to work regularly scheduled overtime or overtime on an emergency basis. Should work be assigned that requires special certification or licensing to perform the work or to use specialized tools or equipment, the incumbent will be required to obtain such certification or licensing and maintain any associated qualification requirements, for example, this position may require Respirator certification. May be assigned a truck stocked with controlled inventory and consumable materials. If assigned stocked truck, the incumbent is responsible for managing material by following established procedures for inventory control and for cost accounting.
