Summary
This vacancy is for a WG - 2805 - 10, Electrician located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, BASE NEW ORLEANS.

Qualifications
Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. To meet the screen-out examples of the duties includes:
Skill in troubleshooting and repairing equipment, in marine (maritime), industrial, institutional, or commercial settings, providing the full range of electrical support in the areas of installation, diagnosis, repairing of electrical wiring, pulling of wires, and all other preventative maintenance. Have repaired/troubleshoot/diagnosis marine (maritime) generators(genset) and Transformers,

Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:
- Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision
- Ability to Use and Maintain Hand Tools (Electrical Work)
- Ability to Use Electrical Drawings
- Knowledge of Electrical Equipment
- Theory and Instruments (Electrical, Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices
- Trouble Shooting (Electrical)
NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
