This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Carpenter ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common carpentry trade to construct, alter, repair or modify wood structures; I perform simple tasks to complete projects from initial layout to final assembly or installation; I can operate common hand and power tools; I work under normal supervision to select the proper lumber, materials, and supplies required to complete assigned work. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Usually works at benches or while material is on a support. Requires considerable standing, stooping and bending. Works on ladders and scaffolds, which requires overhead work or work in stretched, cramped or awkward positions. Considerable arm movement is required when nailing, painting, and using such tools as handsaws and planers. Strenuous physical exertion is sometimes required when handling heavy and bulky materials, such as sheets of plywood and framing members. May occasionally be required to lift and carry items that weigh about 50 pounds and team-lift (2 or more employees) items that weigh about 160 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside a shop where incumbent is subject to moderate to high noise levels, cuts from hand or power tools, and danger from flying splinters and chips. Shop work is also unpleasant due to the presence of sawdust in the air. May frequently work outside in all kinds of weather and at times where protection from weather conditions is limited due to unheated building shells. May work on scaffolding and high ladders or rooftops when nailing and installing completed items. There is exposure to dirt, dust, grease, paint fumes and danger of falls when working above ground level. Work assignments involve a thorough knowledge of hazardous material handling and related activities. Must successfully complete a variety of hazardous materials classes. There is a possibility of exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes from spills and or leaks and incumbent may be required to wear protective clothing (e.g., rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, respirator, etc.)
