This is a Term Appointment, initial appointment is not to exceed 13 months. Term Appointments may be extended up to a total of 4 years.

Candidates must clear the fingerprint process and initiate the required background investigation prior to final selection.
A one-year trial period will be required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work is performed inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy, and subject to sudden changes in temperature extremes. Works in high elevation, exposed to falls, shocks and burns from electrical wires, steam lines, and chemicals, and the possibility of strains, cuts, scrapes, bruises, and infections. Also exposed to smoke, soot, dust, fumes, acid, and moving machinery.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Repairs and installations are from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, and hard-to-reach places. Work requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. Occasionally, may lift and carry items that weigh over 50 pounds.
PHYSICAL EXAM:
Selectee will be required to pass a physical examination prior to the effective date of appointment to this position. This physical exam will include a chest x-ray. Cost of physical will be the responsibility of selectee.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

- A copy of your last performance appraisal including rating; and
- Any documentation from your bureau/operating unit that shows your current promotion potential.
- A copy of your Reduction In Force (RIF) separation notice; notice of proposed removal for declining a directed geographic relocation outside of the local commuting area; notice of disability annuity termination; certification from your former agency that it cannot place you after your recovery from a work-related compensable injury; or certification from the National Guard Bureau or Military Department that you are eligible for disability retirement.
- A copy of your SF-50 "Notification of Personnel Action", documenting your RIF separation, noting your position, grade/band level, and duty location, and/or Agency certification of inability to place you through RPL, etc.;
- A copy of your latest performance appraisal including your rating; and
- Any documentation from your agency that shows your current promotion potential.
