Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
Required to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. Pre-employment physical required and annually thereafter.
This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing laboratory animal care required to transport, prepare, and position animals for surgical procedures; assist veterinarians and surgery team members; and to administer medications and drugs. Use sterile operative techniques needed to prepare research animals for surgery; assist veterinarians and surgical team members; to clean, calibrate, and maintain surgical equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education
