ABOUT THE JOB

Gunzilla is seeking a highly skilled and creative Cloth Simulation Artist to join our team working our game OTG (Off The Grid), an all-new AAA Battle Royale 2.0 third person shooter, due for release on PlayStation®5, Xbox® Series X|S and PC.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cloth simulation and a strong understanding of the principles of physics-based animation.

As a Cloth Simulation Artist, you will work closely with animators, character artists, and technical directors to create realistic and dynamic cloth simulations that enhance the visual storytelling of our cinematic sequences.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, create, and implement high-quality cloth simulations for characters and environments in cinematic sequences.
  • Collaborate with animators and character artists to ensure cloth simulations integrate seamlessly with character movements and actions.
  • Develop and optimize simulation rigs and workflows to ensure efficient and high-performance simulations.
  • Troubleshoot and solve technical issues related to cloth simulation and provide solutions to achieve the desired visual effects.
  • Stay current with industry trends and new technologies to continuously improve simulation techniques.
  • Work with the technical team to integrate simulations into the production pipeline and ensure compatibility with real-time rendering engines.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to junior artists and other team members as needed

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of professional experience in cloth simulation or a related field.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard simulation software such as Maya, Houdini, Marvelous Designer, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of physics-based animation principles and techniques.
  • Experience with real-time rendering engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities

PLUSSES

  • Bachelor's degree in Animation, Computer Graphics, Visual Effects, or a related field.
  • Experience in character rigging and skinning.
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, MEL).
  • Background in visual effects (VFX) and post-production.
  • Passion for video games, films, and animation.
