This position is located within DHS, FEMA, Region 9, National Preparedness Division, Technological Hazards Branch, in Oakland, CA.
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in emergency management, including with supporting comprehensive emergency management planning and working closely with, and receive support from, all levels of government in preventing, protecting, preparing for, responding to, recovering from, and mitigating emergency events.

GS-11:
To qualify for this position at the GS-11 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following:

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have Ph D. or equivalent doctoral degree, 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. if related. Education at the graduate level in an accredited college or university meets the requirements for positions at GS-11 level. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

A combination of graduate level education and experience as described above.
GS-12:
To qualify for this position at the GS-12 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position.
